It really is turning out right deedlit Would luv to see more pics as you progress, do keep it coming.: :
Agreed. But 1 question deeelit. The way you installed the kitchen, if the people are in the trailer, how will they have access to the kitchen if its mounted facing the rear?

To Camber: I use Tamiya White fine primer. It works great.

To 454SS: I know , it's a strange way to instal a kitchen. 95% of the teardrops trailer are done this way. I followed the pics of a real one.
These are the pics I used as reference.

All pictures a copyright to Desert Teardrops

I just changed some parts (compared to the original one) to give it a VW-look and fit the beetle.

Re: Current project: Teardrop Trailer , complete scratch building (!!Long thread!!)

HI all,

because of the high temperatures , I haven't done a lot recently.
But Friday, I tried to change my mind (after the death of my friend) and worked a bit. I've just worked on the dashboard.
I've put BMf on ( BIG Thanks to Zelijko Segin aka hrmodeler for the BMF he sent me), decals are on too. I've put a little drop of clear in the speedometer and fuel gauge ( to represent the glass ).

That's all. More courage to work next week.

Xav

Hi guys,

I've worked a bit recently. During my latest show I was so bored that I decided to paint the 'white' parts of my seats and door panels. I used oil paints (winsor&newton) , mixed two or three different colours to have a kind of beige.
It took me 6 hours to achieve. After lights and shadows, here is how it looks now:

The pics don't do it justice, the 'used' effect is more visible in real.

Next show, still 6 hours to work on, and the grey-blue primer will be replaced by grey-blue oil paint.

The wheel arches ( from a Tamiya Beetle ) are now painted, polished and glued on the teardrops.

The beetle's body is ready to paint (two tones) , first layer of white this week and blue next week.

Stay tuned

Xav

Looks good. Never really liked VW too much, but this build is very interesting.

Thumbs up

Fantastic!

You've done a great job on the lines of the teardrop trailer. I love the work you've done on the beetle, too... always loved the old v-dubs. Color choice is awesome, IMHO.

Can't wait to see more pics, then some BIG completed pics!!!
