Current project: body-dropped S10

I've been chopping this Monogram Chevy S10 up during TV commercial time over the last couple of weeks, and none of this kit has actually made it ONTO the bench as such. Anyways, I'm not sure I'll be using these wheels, but they'll be the same size. They're Hoppin' Hydros Slim 20's. Color as yet is undecided, but it will have to make up for the lack of everything you can't see because that stuff simply won't exist. Any suggestions for color schemes?

Here are a couple pics for your enjoyment. I'm aware that the bed is kinda tweaked, but it's not a problem.

Thanks for the compliment, but to answer your question, it won't even have a frame.

just a quick, crappy photoshop for you on what i think would look awesome...

ofcourse, the brown could even be darker... i saw someone chop a Mazda 6 in this color scheme, gotta be one of the coolest i've ever seen... ofcourse, you need to be comfortable with 2 tone color schemes and possibly pinstriping... i think the red line is really essential, though

it would actually even be cooler if you could get the hood white also, maybe if you could post some pics from the right/left front corner, i could show you what i mean

Where did you find this kit at, or have you had it for a while? I had an '85 S-10 when I first turned 16 and I'd love to work on a model of the same body style as you're working on. Looks good though, can't wait till it gets more detail on it.

Wow, lots of replies, thanks for the interest to all! I'll try to answer all your questions, so here goes:

Schubert, does this mean you have time to make me a new signature now? I'm not really digging the brown color, and I already have a brown Riviera in the display case, but the two-tone thing might be cool... just will have to be different, because the silverado i'm doing is also 2-tone. I'll get a couple more angles up to see what you can come up with. I really have to decide on a color scheme soon, because there's not much left to do before I get to the paint stage. Oh, knock the doorhandles and taillights off while you're at it...

Customminiatures, thanks for the offer on the frame, but I'm just doing this as a quick build. You do some nice work though, and it might help me out in the future. Do you have a bigger pic of the Silverado? I'd ike to see that paint job in better detail.

D16ACRX and Texas F355F1, it's an old Monogram kit, there's one on ebay now:

DJPaul, I didn't realy intend for this to be a progress thread, but I guess I have to keep my viewers happy, so I'll update as I go along.

Here's a new pic of the progress. For some reason, I'm just not motivated to do much work on my models lately. I hacked up a pill bottle that happened to be the perfect diameter to make the rear wheel tubs, and one side is higher than the other for some reason. I cut right through the middle of it, but I must have been off a bit. It doesn't matter anyways, because the smaller half is just right, so I'll file the bigger half down to fit. You can barely see them in this pic.
I also ground down the door handles and laid down some primer. I'll have to buy some putty to finish off the door handle shave, and the tailgate handle will go too.
I had installed the firewall as a means to strengthen the body and to help locate the interior tub, but I realized just before the glue dried that the front tires interfered heavily with the firewall, so out it came again. I'll scratchbuild a flat one someday.

That's all for now.
