Well I think that bothers 99.8% of all people that are on this site. The other .2% are the ones that "joined the movement" because of it. And, guys if your gonna blame Honda go ahead and blame Nissan, Toyota, and Mitsubishi too.

.

To those who were influenced by Fast and the Furious to buy a Honda makes me wonder why. The only Honda's in the movie didn't really do much, that red Integra got its ass kicked, and the Civics with the green neons, all they did was drive those around to steal shit from trucks.

That and Eclipse's. Lots of those style Eclipse's where I live, which again, lost in the movie. Why not a sudden movement to buy Rx-7s and Supras?

Because most of the people can't afford those cars. I know that i was (and still am) an import enthusiast, before the FAF, but that movie did stir up a lot of people in washington. i kno now when i drive down hwy 99, i'll see atleast 5 within 15 minutes. most are civics w/ fart-cans, and with little knowledge of cars. I know i'd buy a supra or rx-7 (rotary owns inline anyday), but i can't afford them. I really don't think the FAF had too bad of an impact on the import scene tho. there were ricers' before the movie, and there probably always will be.

-Peace

Yeah, there were a few ricers around before the movie, but nothing like there is now...

Anyhow, the Honda civic is the most commonly riced car, probably because it is the most easily identified with import racing... It's the same with hotrods and the 32 Ford. There are countless hotrods out there, but say the word "hotrod", and you'll get a mental image of a 32 Ford roadster with the fenders ripped off.

DemonZX, I think your numbers are a little off... try lurking in the honda forum for a while , you'll revise those figures

I can't imagine those older boxier style RX-7's being that much more expensive then a 93 Civic so why not try and find one of those. Not to mention those 80's Supra's as well. They couldn't be that expensive because they weren't that great of cars but they were probably a little faster then your average Civic.

It's just that after that movie, every punkass kid in town got a civic and started ricing it up...

Devil, the Supra/RX7 were the top offerings from Japan in the 80s, and are nothing to sneeze at. Turbo versions of both can be easily modified to run surprising quick times.

A first generation RX7(FB) only weighs about 2300lbs, and they have a very wide engine bay. In fact, since the RX7 and the Fox body platform are so closely related, and in fact designed by the same team, a 5.0 Ford V8 bolts right in, with the only clearance issues being a few places on the firewall. In fact, the 5.0 HO engine only weighs about 60 lbs more than the 12A rotary of the early RX7, which is easily offset by relocating the battery to the trunk.

The Supra Turbo has a very strong engine, capable of taking lot's of boost, or nitrous, or both.

Exactly, yeah I'd say there was a movement. I don't recall seeing very many Hondas around my area with those ugly metal wings that just don't match a damn thing. Nor do I remember hearing all the exhaust noise from 4 cylinders I hear today around my area. Maybe I just didn't notice it as much but I know its a fact about the stupid wings.
