Question rice burners

i have a chevy truck w/a 454. when it was stock the imports wanted to race . isn't it fun to make an import driver waste his nos against a stock engine? never been beat by an import and with all the mods now never will.

Yeah, I'll agree, you won't get beat by a ricer. However; you could very well have your ass handed to you by an import. Don't ever be so arrogant and sure of yourself, it will only make you look like an ass when you lose.

Enlighten us please. Tell us how bad ass your Truck is.

Oh yeah, the whole "imports suck" thing.. it got old. Just accept it.

one more time for the arrogent

there are PLENTY of so called "rice burners'' which the intelligent call IMPORTS that can kick a 454 w/mods and could rip the doors off ur 74 POS truck

so dont hate the things that you dont know...there are plenty of supras/celicas/civics/s2000s that could kick ur ass

oh sorry i forgot to add

if your calling all imports rice burners

id like to see you face up with what we in the car world call a ferrari enzo or a ferrari 575M or 550 Barchetta or a diablo or a murcielago

cuz technically they are imports too ...if you dont live in italy which im sure you dont

so when the day comes that a "looking for laughs" ferrari driver in his 575 or a lambo driver in his diablo wants to race ur 454 w/mods

lemme know who smokes wo

Yep. A 454SS Chevy Truck is a stout performer, no doubt about that. But there's these big bricks called Skylines that chomp Vipers for lunch (when tuned properly). Not to mention 3000GT turbos, TT Supras and TT 300ZX's, Turbo FD3S RX-7's, Acura NSX's, well-tuned SR20DET transplant 240SX's, the list goes on for quite some time. Each car is different. Each owner is different. And there's always a faster car.

And you mustn't forget the all powerful god of sub 2.0L pushrod performance..... THE MGB GT!

Yes but unfortunately the odds of him racing a skyline are very slim, but I would love to hear his explanation why the skyline was shifting to third before he got to second.

But for the starter of this post, you sir are an idiot. I hate the average civic with the fart can as much as you, but when you classify all imports as crap that just shows your knowledge. I have a friend who's Supra dynos at over 812rwhp without nitrous, and my neighbors fd rx-7 dynos at about 550rwhp. These cars are commonplaces in the serious import world. So while I have no doubt that you can totally trounce on a 90 civic hatchback, you would get eaten alive by a true import sports car.

.

I keep hearing so much about this damn 454 truck. I've seen pics of them aren't they some kind of 80's boxy style Silverado or something?

What is this thing I mean is it producing the same 450 hp that the Chevelle produced with its 454?

I was about to unleash a bunch of verbal epithets at this guy, but you guys already beat me to it. It wouldn't take much more than an RX-7 or 300ZX TT to hand your ass to you on a silver platter, as a lot of the posters have already stated.

Devil: HAHAHA no its not a Silverado 454SS, nor does he have a LS6 454 from a 70 SS454 Chevelle.

Silverado 454SS, those were made in like 90-93 i think. They didnt sell very well cause the 454 was stock, had a 4:10 gear ratio with a TH400 tranny meaning it got really bad milege (no overdrive). Like 10 city 12 highway. But they have potential.

ANYWHO what our friend here has is a 70's Chevy Silverado. Probably a 3/4 ton Truck with a tired old 454.

Unless he's rebuilt his, and swapped intakes, swapped cams, swapped heads, swapped carbs... then he isnt making much more than 280hp From a late 70s 454.

I hate it when people say MODs, did you personally sit there and MODify your intake so it flows better? No you swapped it for anutter!

I'd just like to say, a truck that weighs 4000 lbs and makes 600hp still hauls ass...

IF it had 600 horsepower it might, too bad it weights 2 tons and has less than half the horsepower of most the supras out there...

Damn 4.10's standard thats pretty badass. Figures it doesn't have the pep of a true 454, its an engine from the 80's-early 90's afterall. No engine seemed to be very powerful by itself around that time.
