Custom turbos are more expensive than kits. Yuo must know nothing about the D17 engine. To get a custom one done costs $8,000 when it's all said and done. The Rev Hard turbo kit will cost $3500.

I would love to do a K20a swap but that costs $10,000 and you are put on a waiting list.

I don't have that kind of money. I am a college student who is studying to be a teacher so I probably will never have enough money to afford one.

A venom nitrous system is setup so that one can't blow their engine. I'm only planning on doing a 50 or 75 shot at most.

Custom is usually done by your self, having some one else doing it is just like getting a kit... But if you don’t have the tools and a shop to do that I can see the point in waiting and getting the kit. 10 grand for an engine swap is insane, don’t know where you got priced for that but they sure are bending you over... I would pay 5 grand at most for that swap.

Oh and any nitrous system can back fire and cause a pretty neat engine fire, killing your engine and pretty much the whole front end of your car sure its rare but it does happen.

Anything not premanufactured is considered custom in my mind.

I get all of my info from 7th Generation Civic. These guys have done the swaps and turbo's on their cars.

7th gens are different from any other civic made yet. It's kinda like the black sheep of civics.

I basically know jack squat about how to build and install a turbo. I really want a supercharger.

The 10 grand includes installation and making the K20a fit the engine bay. It's a hard item to get because it's so new.

Why does everybody have to diss on everybody else's car? Fly's car looks great. What's the problem?!? If it's what he likes you should condone that, not try to ruin it. You can call anything rice. If 90% of show cars "resemble" rice, then what isn't rice?!? Get over yourself. Everybody has different taste.
And not everybody's got thousands of dollars to throw away on their car. He's going through college. Do you really think he can afford a turbo? Especially a turbo for a 7gen Civic, which, as Fly said, is almost unheard of. Not all of us can afford engine swaps, turbos, etc. Just because he hasn't spent 20K on his car doesn't mean it's a piece of shit. What if he's not done? He just got the car a few months ago. These things take time, especially for people who have what most of us like to call a budget. See, lots of us have houses, car payments, apartments, bills, insurance, etc. to pay. They cannot devote their entire time, patience, and money to their cars. They do what they can when they can. People have got to respect that.
Damn, just because the car doesn't look and run like something out of the magazines and movies doesn't give you the right to go off and talk shit about it.

You've been pretty quick on trying your hardest to insult just about everything Flys got, btoast. What's your ride?

ok first of all K20- swap will not cost you 10 grand...maybe when it first came out (maybe) I know Iv'e done a k20c swap (but I understand that internet info can be misleading, who knows they probably did pay that not knowing what to do off the bat.). Also there are many different types of tubro / component changeables: hybrids, rebuilds, ballbearing, 300-360 thrust bearing ect. Yes custom Turbo's are expensive, And new V6 mustangs and 02 civic's match up. Perhaps he was a better driver, maybe it had something to do with weight or the manual against the auto. All of these things factor in. I'm shure fly didint post this thread to take a bashing, lets congadulate him not accuse him of being a liar and bash his car b/c its not your style. Cmon ppl Its not like he's bragging about a win, just proud of what his car is capable of. I was impressed.

My friend does not race his car at all. The only person he ever runs against is me. So he probably doesn't have that quick "brake to gas" foot yet.

Manuals can launch faster than automatics anyways.

Damn, I wish I knew as much about engines as you do hybridsol...you car kicks......i remember reading about the race with the Hemi.

thanks man I have agreat deal of respect for you as well not many ppl can utilize 7thgen due to the lack of knowledge/aftermarket equipment for it. Look at it this way when you look back and ppl are still trying to understand the 7thgen you can call yourself a pioneer, lol. Like I said before bring us back a kill story next time.

Thumbs up Fly Rice

I guess I turned this thread sour by asking about your fight rice banner. My apologies. Didn't mean to unleash the hounds on you. Your Honda is considerably nicer than anything I own. And your obviously a class act for all the crap you've taken and still kept your cool. Best wishes and hope you enjoy your car. Regards, Ron

Thanks man. No harm done. We are cool. About the banner. Everyone calls my car rice, so I joke about it with my friends. If you can't laugh at your car, what can you laugh at?

I have to disagree with ya buddy.

A torque converter will do a better job than your left foot ever will with a clutch. Its more consistant and reliable. Manual on the other hand maybe funner for driving sake, and for road racing.. but Autos are best for Drag Racing hands down.

As for getting an auto to lunch like a manual that just takes a higher rpm torque converter. You may think "We'll that takes money to make it better..." True it does, but it takes money to upgrade a clutch to handle high powered motors as well.

Anywho... enough babbling.

correct, but on a built auto, otherwise on MOST cars a manual will serve better, just simply because you can choose when it shifts.
