Red face '02 Civic vs. '00 Mustang

My friend and and I today decided do a race with each other. I wanted to see how I matched up against his automtatic 2000 Ford Mustang.

We didn't have a flagger, so he just counted off then we hit it. He jumped on me but I held. My front tire was at his rear tire the whole time. We only ran for a distance of about 200 yards.

I can't wait to get my new header and exhaust. Then we will race again.

nice do me a favor and come back with a kill story once you get more modification done. If you hung with him you should be able to take him with an hp gain

Thanks for the support ya'll. It's a V6 Mustang. He is stock and runs about 190 HP. I know that I can take him. And I will redeem myself.

But right now I don't care if I lost cause I just turned 21 3 hours ago and we went out to party. Such fun!!! My girlfriend is a bartender at a bar that her parents own, so they picked up the tab. YAY!!!!!!!

please do all civic owners a favor and say header instead of headers. you only have one cylinder bank, and therefore only one header

Heyhey! way to go Fly. I'd be willing to bet big money that you could beat him if you tried. Now 8 cyl you'd be in trouble... but I've raced 4 stangs (all stick, 3 were 6 cyl and 1 8 cyl) and beat them all (the 8 cyl grinded a gear bad, thus being the ONLY reason I beat him cuz I would have straight gotten my ass handed to me otherwise)

So I've got faith in you. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you had fun.

Thanks for the support ya'll. My friend is reading over my shoulder right now and he is joking around talking trash about the race. Don't worry I'll get him next time.

I promise that his ass is going down next time.

Here are picks or him and I before the race

Good race, but in all honesty it will probably take more then a header to beat the mustang, even though it is an auto v6.

The manual tranny V6 'Stang runs a mid-to-high 15 quarter, whereas the auto runs low 16's.

The 2002 Civic EX manual runs a low-to-mid 16 quarter stock.

Besides the launch advantage of a RWD Mustang, it is pretty close, especially if the Civic is modded and the 'Stang is not.

So, it may take more than a header for you to beat a V6 'Stang, but not much more than that, if you drive good (the 'Stang doesn't have to, he's got an auto).

You already seem to have the necessary mods to complement headers when you get them.

Im sticking with my statement. Let them run after the header install and see. If the civic wins then I was wrong.

Question fly rice racer

Please explain this "Fight Rice" logo you display. From the mods you've made on your Honda, you are the epitomy of rice. Clear taillights, strobe lights, aftermarket rear veiw mirrors. I always thought doing this type of thing without engine mods was "ricey." Well, at least you don't have a wing.

It's a joke. Kind of making fun of myself at the moment. All of my boys know that I am the first one to make fun of myself. I'm not rice, even though others might think so.

The name "Fly Rice Racer" is a pun of sorts. Have you ever seen Lethal Weapon 4 and they are talking to Benny? They make fun of Fried Rice by calling it Fly Lice. Because I have a honda I call it Fly Rice. A mix of both.

As for being ricey........There is a difference from being Rice and being a Show Car. A show car needs all of these things to win. 2 weeks after I got the car, I entered it in NOPI Nationals just to see what it was like. Next year I am aiming to win.

A rice car or rice rocket is a car that is done up with decals displaying mods that it may or may not have. Do you see any stickers on my car?(I've even taken off the "Civic" and "EX" badges, soon the rear and from "H" will be gone too)

I have a Cold Air Intake. I am getting Kamikaze Header and a Tanabe Super Racing Medalion Exhaust. So the performance mods are coming. I don't have the money to just throw together all of these mods at once.

Also, any mod such as a turbo or supercharger will take tons of money because nobody will make a turbo kit for the 7th generation civic. It cost right now about $8,000 for a custom turbo.

I only got the car a damn 3 months ago, so I think I'm doing pretty damn good don't you? On top of that, I am a college student with car payments, rent, and a girlfriend to spend my money on. It doesn't make doing this easy.

I will announce it when my ride is done and ready for critiquing.

Welcome to AF
