Ok...who CARES WHAT A CAR SOUNDS LIKE!? As long as it doesn't sound like a P.O.S. (rattles and squeeks and shit) or sound like a mosquito on speed, who cares? I prefer a car that sounds like an F1 car then a car that sounds like a damn truck. I hate mustangs and what not that rattle shit in my house when they drive through the neighborhood. Or the Camaros that sit next to me at a stop light and drown out the radio. It's like they have something to prove or something.

Name a car that has more potential then the R34. That car is an AMAZING platform. It's a supercar. It completely dominated the racing circuit when it came out. You'd probably say that Ling. Vette is better. it is a pretty cool car, but For that much money (the KIT costs as much as most cars), you could damn near buy a Lambo. I like the new vettes though. The Z06 is one domestic car that I would actually not mind owning.
Alright, let's not start a flame war here. Yeah the R34 is a wicked car with great potential. You just posted some stuff that I thought was incorrect. What do you consider great gas milage? My truck only gets about 10mpg on the highway, so a stock corvette getting 28mpg (http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/s...ettefacts.html) seems great to me. Here's a link to the 650hp LPE vette getting 31mpg: http://www.fast-autos.net/lingenfelt...lter650tt.html. I can't find the 725hp one but will post it when I find it. That's what's so great about John, he can tune a car so well it'll run single digits on the track, pass emissions, and get 30mpg on the highway. Most people do care what their car sounds like, but most people have a difference of opinion on what sounds the best. I love the fact that my truck is so loud it'll rattle shit inside your house. It makes most people wonder what it's got under the hood. IMHO, I think that both a Corvette or a Viper would be a better platform for peromance. I'm not saying that an R34 couldn't be turned into a supercar, I'd just rather do it with a Viper or Corvette.

I'm dreaming? WTF is your problem? I just said that was my opinion and now you're talking crap. Why don't you read this thread to see what other people think about the R34 vs. Z06: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=150680. Everything I said is true to the best of my knowledge. If I'm wrong, prove me wrong, don't try to provoke a fight.

About the GT.......Oops...I realized that at work last night. I remembered that that car was called the GT. Cool car...they seriously lamed out on the name of the damn thing though. It's been called that forever though, so it's grandfathered in...

I, along with the vast majority of people, agree. Only thing about it is that it looks plain as hell...not bad, just plain...tis a damn shame.

I was just saying what the mag did. I would say quoting....I didn't quote it...I can't find the magazine. The info's not exact, but you get my point. I wasn't exaggerating. The magazine has to be in storage in Florida. I apologize.

Well...of course, like anything else, it's all relative. 28 for a V8 performance car is pretty good. 10 is friggin horrible...you might as well buy an H2. My 86 300ZX 2+2 (stock, NA, V6, ~159,000 miles, ooold as hell) on a trip from Kentucky to South Florida got over 30mpg the WHOLE way....goin 80 with the AC on, loaded with stuff. Now THAT'S good.

I just don't understand how a car can get BETTER milage (quite a bit better, at that) after adding forced induction. Just doesn't sound likely.

I like his work. I'm not a domestic car guy (by any means.......I can count on 2 hands how many domestic cars I like....1 hand how many I'd buy), but I like the vettes and the Ling stuff.

I fucking hate that. Most annoying thing ever...truck guys (you) and the damned mustang assholes...I swear....I've got a bag of powdered sugar with all your gas tank's names on it. I know I sound hostile, but that drives me up the damned wall. Same thing with Harleys (in particular).

It'd be easier to do with the R34....or even a Supra for that matter. I've heard of both of these cars running 9's on street tires with just bolt ons.......stock top and bottom ends.....AND they're daily drivers with good gas milage and reliablity. I've also seen 300ZX's do that. Check out the rides on www.sgpracing.com. I don't think you need more then 6 cylinders. 8-10 is just too many....too many moving parts, generally worse milage....just unnecessary. There are exceptions to everything though.

Sorry... Actually, I'm saving up for a complete new exhaust system which will be pretty quiet, until I open the electronic cut-outs. Good headers that fit my truck are so expensive!

Re: Re: If you had a million dollars...

Electronic cutouts?? Ehhh......what the hell? That so you can be quite when you need to and loud when you want to? OOOOOOOOOooooooooook...........

About the Skyline:

"Similar to earlier versions, the RB26DETT drives the GT-R forward with an official 280hp at 6800rpm (restricted by the Japanese government). But as the UK GT-R Club found out, 328hp at 6,400rpm seem to be the real output." --http://www.jbskyline.net/R34/GTR/index2.php

That's what I was talking about when I said it was REALLY REALLY REALLY underrated due to Japanese regulations. As far as it taking to mods so well:

"But actually this engine was directly designed for use in Japanese Group A racing, and tuned derivatives have proven to reliably run with over 550hp without need-ing any internal changes." --http://www.jbskyline.net/R32/GTR/index2.php#rb

The engine is just a slightly detuned race car engine. Put a couple simple mods on it and it returns to the way it was actually designed to be....insanely powerful. I've seen these engines putting 800-1000hp to the wheels.....all out of just 6 cylinders. In a rear wheel drive car, you'd do little but nuke your tires with that much power....in this car, you take off. The ATTESA-ETS AWD system is amazing. It lets the car behave like a RWD car, but when it senses a wheel start to spin, it can send up to 50% of power to one/both of the front wheels. This system not only allows for drifting to be possible, it actually PROMOTES it. It's like a rear wheel drive car that can act like an all wheel drive car when it needs to.

Re: If you had a million dollars...

Just curious, when the GT-R is pushing 1000hp, does it still use AWD? I know other AWD vehicles pushing that much power usually switch to 2WD (usually RWD), because the AWD system can't handle that much power. Is the GT-R's AWD system strong enough to handle that much power?

After researching the topic (http://www.skylinegtr.8k.com/article5.htm the subject of that link is the Blitz 800+hp Autobahn top speed record holder), I have found nothing that suggest that they disable the ATTESA system while running that much power. The closest I found to that being true was (http://www.skylinegtr.8k.com/article2.htm the subject of this link is the A'Pex Skyline that is pusing over 1,000 hp at 28psi...it can run nearly double that, but in the words of the crew cheif "there just is no need to run more") a car that has been fitted with a manual handle that adjusts the front/rear bias from inside the car. They do this so they can adjust it from inside the car according to track conditions. This thing SCREAMS down the track in ~8 seconds. Insanely fast car...and it's street legal (I think). The ATTESA system isn't like a normal AWD system...it is basically a RWD car that can use it's front wheels to combat understeer, oversteer, poor road conditions, or wheel spin. Amazing car...

Re: If you had a million dollars...

well I have a ford Mondeo (00 version), probably I'll try to make it hardcore. Paint in shinny black, replace with 18 inches alloy wheels, add a turbo (up to 400 ps), light brown tan sports leather seat (maybe the ferrari kind), alpina sound system, navigation system, adjustable suspension, aero parts, low car body, a deep sounding racing exhaust pipe, NOS+, polished interior, wide body, change to round headlights. If possible I might replace a BA Falcon 5.7 V8 engine into the Mondeo the change it to rear wheel drive.

I think it's about it

You know......I'm not to fond of it either. It's just kinda plain looking. It looks good...I like it (especially from the front...looks meeeeeeeean as hell from the front), but it could be a little better I think. I like it a lot better with a body kit on it. Still an amazing car.

Re: If you had a million dollars...

alright...$1000000
first i'd pull out the engine i got now and drop a 2JZ-GTE in there (i drive a 93 Corolla now). would redo all the front panels and that sorta thing so the engine would fit in there (kinda get the BMW look going). then put in the new turbos so i can run shit loads of boost, covert it from front wheel to all wheel. would probably end up redoing pretty much everything involved with the engine (ECU, tranny, etc.) so it could handle all the new power, run a roughly 150 shot of nitrous now that i could theoretically handle it, 16" wheels, lower the car roughly 2 inches, titanium strut bars (stole the idea...sorry, was too good to pass up), and thats about it for the engine.
would probably give in to the body kit and throw one of those on, paint it straight black with blue neons, windows tinted to around 5%, head unit with flip up monitor, monitors in headrests and in dash in front of passenger, PS2 in back, fiberglass sub enclosure, racing seats (front and back, remove bench seat and put racing seats on either side with PS2 in middle), redo interior to black carpet sorta stuff (not suede...looks like shit IMO), get a sunroof installed (always wanted one, never had one), lamborghini doors (why the hell not), thats all for now
and with the leftover money i'd either buy a few supras or just save it to pay all the speeding tickets i'd get
