Very nice build! Love that truck. That episode of West Coast is forever on my DVR, lol.

Re: Ford F100 1953 "The Expendables"

Thanks for comments.

This is the wheels which I plan to use

super quality

unfortunately, the rear a little too tight

so

together with the frame and suspension

and with the body

and the original

seen that the rear wheels are much larger 22" and my only 19"
and the suspension should be slightly lower

this is front

and rear

very simple

by the way, I have to remove the fuel tank

in the movie car he is in back

I found a picture of another custom F100

probably waiting for me notch beam

here was mounting the spare wheel but I already removed them

Re: Ford F100 1953 "The Expendables"

If you are not going 100% accurate, the rear should be pretty simple, just notch the frame and move the spring hangars up on the frame. The front will be a bit more difficult, but basically the same as the rear.

If authenticity is what you are after, I'd presume they have mustangII independant front suspension and a sectioned rear frame with trailing arm suspension and coil over shocks in the rear.

Re: Ford F100 1953 "The Expendables"

I remember in the episode they had to cut the wheel tubs out aswell. At least you measured to make it straight, they didn't!

Re: Ford F100 1953 "The Expendables"

I searched for images on the internet and decided to do a new suspension.
So it looks like standard front suspension

and this is a basic element of the set to change the independent suspension

and then it looks like this

I found a picture from a modification of the suspension, here are some

WCC guys do the same

after a few hours I did something like this

So far it is only prototype

I had to make a few modifications

Re: Ford F100 1953 "The Expendables"

Beautiful work on the front suspension, and the choice of wheels is pretty much spot-on!

Re: Ford F100 1953 "The Expendables"

I improved my prototype

I used brass and copper rods and tube

I did the threaded height adjustment

I have to improve the spring, is too thick wire.
