Ferrari 458 Italia (Fujimi)

Hello, this project was finally done after 1 and a half year plus.

Kit: Fujimi Ferrari 458 Italia
PE: Hobby Design
Metal Transfer: Hobby Design
Muffler Tip: Hobby Design
Wheel Nuts: Hobby Design
Tire air valves: A-club
CF decal: Crazy modeller & Studio 27
Paint: Tamiya spray can, MR hobby spray can

A very simplified Fujimi kit, with workable door mod, detailed up interior and so on. the body colour is Tamiya TS-85, Bright mica red. without an airbrush, this colour was a closest to Rosso Scuderia to me. Before clear coat, this paint was perfect, but after clearcoat, the metallic particles became very obvious. Done with quite alot of mistake, only realised after all assembled. Anyway, here are the final result.

Looks pretty impressive to me. The brakes are hands down the best I've seen. How did you paint/detail the discs?

Thanks alot. what i did was just lightly sprayed a layer of tamiya gunmetal to the PE disc, then sprayed a layer of flat clear on it. thats all i did.

Good Golly Miss Molly! You did that from a spray can?? There's hope for me (non airbrush modeller) yet...

It looks real because of the slight discoloration around each hole.

Wow, great build. Do you have more infos about the door hinges? Is there a WIP thread?

thanks, Yup, is all spray can and hand brush for those tiny stuff. im a non airbrush modeller yet aswell.

Thanks, i think was because just a thin layer of gunmetal that insufficient to cover the holes but enough colour to replicate carbon ceramic disc that makes it looks like discoloration around those holes. erm... make sense? not sure.. hahaha. i tried many ways from hand paint to few layers or different colour, but this was the best result so far.

thanks, yup, i do have WIP thread here in this forum. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...056631&page=9# page 9 is where i did the hinge, actually got the idea from a guy here that built a 360 fully open.
