The STi and base WRX have always been Subaru Imprezas. The Impreza line ended its coupes in MY2001 for the rest of the world, and MY2002 for the USA. As far as the Cusco JGTC car goes, I have no idea how they made that into a coupe, probably alot of body work
The current WRX/STi version is 8. My bug eyed beauty is a version 7 and version 6 and previous all have the old Impreza 2.5RS looks, some were coupes, some sedans. The STi Type Rs I believe were the coupes, along with the 22B (yummy! :licker: )

we've never had a 2 door wrx over here, or a wrx prior to the new style, version 8 cars.

there is no 2 door version 8. won't be.

the older cars, like the 2.5rs can easily be converted with a wrx ej20 motor swap...

would the loss of the .5lt be worth it? what would you think about working on the ej25 and turbocharging it?

the ej20 is a turbo motor stock.

it's worth it...

turbo'ing the rs motor is not hard to do, but hard to keep running.

if you remember the SCC mag project car, they always had issues with it... after the turbo...

it'd be easier to buy a motor that's already turbo'd, especially in that car...

and .5 liters isn't as big an issue as reliability

oh well that makes sense, is the 2.5 just not as well made of a block as the 2.0 or is it more the internals?

Actually some nutzoid WRX owners who really wanna go with big power tend to take the EJ25 engine that powers the current 2.5RS and reinforce it, and then turbocharge it. I'm not sure the RS comes with a rear LSD, so that is probably why people don't just buy the new RSes and TC them. Alot of older GC8 style RS owners (coupes mostly) will either do the EJ20 swap, or will settle for TCing the EJ25. When the new STi arrives with its AVCS 2.5L Turbo engine, I'm sure both GC8 RSes and GDA WRXes will want to get their hands on that engine. And yeah, I'm a little bit of a Subaru fan

hmm my dad wants to turbocharge his RS but maby he would be better off with an engine swap... i think it does have a viscous LSD in back but the front is open unfortunantly. ive allways wondered, will the flat-6 from the outback fit? it would mess up the weight ratio but god think of it... ::drools on self::

Actually no WRXs have a front LSD either. Only the STi will. And if you are patient, it is rumored that a twin turbo flat 6 3.0L will take residence in the Legacy chassis in the near future.

really? for some reason i was thinking the WRX had a front LSD i guess its the STi on my mind. i searched for the legacy and saw somthing about the new one being turbocharged... but what do you think about about a 6 cylinder impreza, would it be too expensive to be worth it?

It seems Subaru's target will be the Audi's new S4 and other cars in that class, and their horsepower goal is 350 hp. And it will probably cost 35-40K for that legacy. But would I pay that much for a SUBARU? Hell YEAH! Not only has my WRX been reliable for 18K miles, but maintanence is so easy. The cars are IMHO well built, but not luxury well built like Audis or BMWs. As far as the Legacies go, they are a bit more luxury and more roomy, and I'd love a twin turbo boxer 6 with a nice leather interior, painted blue or that B4 RSK purple, and 3 limited slip diffs (hell i dont even need the center active diff, but itd be a nice touch). When people say "In the end its just a SUBARU!", you should just thank them and take that as an added compliment.

I dont think a 3.0L flat 6 would fit unfortunately. But I have seen the Legacies of Japan with the EJ20s in them handle amazingly.

here are some JDM Legacies with the EJ20 engine and twin turbo performance to boot:

leg room and enough power to "leg it"
