Not bad? Gains is doing a great job on this.
I know that it is not easy to get the monocoque right - takes a lot of work, but he's for sure on the right track!

Thanks for your comments guys and for your interest on the progress of this model.
The engine/rear suspension work is just I a early stage since almost all of my efforts are canalised to the conclusion of the monocoque and the preparation of the Alpine body, anyway here’s a picture of the engine status.

New update.
The V10 Ferrari engine, gearbox and rear suspension is finish. Just have to finish the exhausts and the complete block is ready to be connected to the monocoque's back.

New update.
Not to much time to work during this weekend, although I manage to finish the tires, front, back, side wings etc. Also started to apply the decals in the monocoque. I am a bit disappointed with the decals. Not the Tamiya ones, they’re great, but the High-Tech ones (at least the ones I have) are extremely fragile and break as soon as I’m carefully taking them out of the support paper. I had to use lots of small parts of spare decals to fix the damages. Anyway here is the progress of the project. Engine is now totally ready.

Gainesbourg, I am having the same experience right now with my S27 high tech decals for my Mclaren MP4/5B. What I have done is to soak them in very hot water instead of warm water, and I'm soaking them for 20 seconds. When I'm holding them in the water, I make sure my tweezer only touches the clear backing, not the decal itself. Then, I set the decal on the model, still handling it by the clear carrier film, then apply a coat of Micro-sol, let it dry overnight, and remove the carrier film the next day with tape.
What I think is happening is the clear carrier film is releasing itself from the decal paper but the decal itself is not, resulting in fragile decals. |

Guys, remember that the High Tech S27 decals are a special breed. IIRC, they have NO carrier film UNDER the decal. The carrier film is laid OVER the decal and is to be removed (once it has dried for several days) by applying cellophane tape to the top of the decal and then gently, GENTLY removing the tape (whcih will lift the carrier film that was applied on the TOP of the decal) off, thus leaving the decal "carrier film free"!
Every build review I've seen has had problems learning this new technique...FWIW I don't use the High Tech versions, instead I simply cut the ragged "under" carrier film as close to the decal as possbile. hth, Bill :bandit:

Hi Gains,
You're coming along ver well! Sorry about the trouble with the decals, but I've never used the High Tech decals before. Although I experienced a sort of a same problem with the Sonax Merc that I'm finishing. Those decals were completely wrinckled and when they came of they just broke into pieces. But I managed to get them all done, with lots of patience. So hang in there dude and you'll be fine!

Time for a new update about the car status. Seat belts were made using the Studio 27 detail set and give the car an amazing realism. Next step, the engine cover. Hope you like it so far. ![]()

Beautiful work there Gains!
Did you have any trouble getting the front Marlboro decal to sit down over the rollbar/camera thingy in front of the cockpit opening? Scary thought but if you were to retrospectively apply the new points system they are introducing in F1 next year to the 1997 results - Schumacher would have won the championship in this car! But it balances out because Hill would have beat him in 1994 ![]() Phil |

Hi Gains,
Very, very impressive. I can't wait to see this one finished. Not a favourite of the subject though but from a modeling standpoint your doing great! Quote:

But given the revised points situation Herr Schumacher wouldn't have needed to go for the punt... :evillaugh |
