Rebuild of: 1/20 Ferrari F310B (* Progress Pics *)
The older members will probably remember the building of my first F310B that not much time after was destroyed by a stupid accident.
I decided some time ago to build this model again, using the maximum of pieces of the destroyed model. With the progress of the project the number of old parts used decreased to just the seat and some parts of the engine. I also decided to use a Studio 27 grade up set and build the low down force version. I’m using again the High-Tech decals and as in the first time they are a true nightmare. I’m totally incompatible with them and it takes a lot of work and time to get a good result. ![]() Here is the actual status of the project.

Good luck rebuilding this infamous machine Nuno. I had forgotten about this model being damanged, deepest comiserations
![]() Looking good so far, going to stick with Irve the Swerve? I agree the High Tech decals are a real pain to work with. As an asside, the extra winglets would make this a higher downforce setup that the French GP version OOB. |

Ouch, nasty. Doesn't look like that monocoque passed the impact test.
![]() On the positive side the rebirth is sure to be even better than the old car was. |

These accidents were the monocoque doesn’t resist to the crash and breaks are always impressive.
I still remember that horrible crash of Martin Donnelly in Spain during the 1990 season. Apparently this one is ok.What is the story of this crash? I didn’t read anything about it. It looks a F1-2000 without the Marlboro logos. |

Re: Rebuild of: 1/20 Ferrari F310B (* Progress Pics *)
I've seen that pic before, it is an F399. Very weird place for the monocoque to break so cleanly. Looks like it just snapped rather than the result of an accident. There would not normally be a join there, very dangerous for the drivers legs for a start. I reckon this is either a replica/show car or a very poorly repaired monocoque that should not have been racing. Schumi crashed a F399 badly in 1999 and broke a leg or two. The nose remained intact up to the wheel centreline.

Re: Rebuild of: 1/20 Ferrari F310B (* Progress Pics *)
Thats messed up. No way should that have happened! The driver is lucky to have both legs. Very strange looking accident...maybe someone forgot to tighten the bolts as there doesn't look like any contact happened.

Re: Rebuild of: 1/20 Ferrari F310B (* Progress Pics *)
Phil, reports are that that IS in fact the very car that was crashed in Silverstone. Also there are a lot of speculations as to what's going on with that. Apparently the car was repaired and sold by Ferrari, but as a show/demonstration car. The owner also had to modify it to be able to fit in it. Also many people say the survival cell is missing, but I have never seen a survival cell in an F1 monocoque, so can't say.

Re: Rebuild of: 1/20 Ferrari F310B (* Progress Pics *)
I agree Alex, the "survival cell" is the monocoque with its associated deformable structures. Something very strange has happened to this one, it is supposed to be a single piece from the front wheel centerline back to the engine mount.

Good luck!
I have always wondered how to use High Tech Decals and why they are better?

New upgrade.
![]() Decals on the front session are all on and they will rest them about two days before apply the clear coat and polish. Meanwhile I will be working on the wings. Stephen, High-Tech decals are better since we get a better result when the decal is correctly applied but since the technique is different from the other decals they are harder to apply. Many break while being applied and other when we remove the film. I personally don’t like to work with them.
