Re: Finished: Auriol's Fabia WRC (Reji, resin)

Hello everyone !
that's my first taking part in this forum... please forgive my english mistakes if I write something hazy...

I decided to subscribe when seeing this very good job on the reji kit when searching some informations and pictures on the Internet, cos' I am makin it too, and then would have some little things to notice and say.

but first, let me introduce to you in a few words.
I live in easthern France, a few kilometers from Strasbourg and german bordery.
I am a rally and rally raid fan, part from a litlle pilots association running in hill climb or rally in regional or national championships.
I like and use to make a lot of photos on events where I go (very usefull for modelling).
especially on German rally since a few years, and on the french rally championship event taking part 10 km away from home !
I've been making modelling for around 7 years, starting with a Tamiya 205 T16 kit!
I work on both scales 1/43rd and 1/24th (75% of my collection is in 1/43rd scale) and on resin as metal or plastic. (plus scratch of course!)
I share this rally passion and this hobby with my brother, that build 1/24th kits, especially WRC models.
I may give photos from mine or his building according to model discussed.
well, ok, I think that's enough for knowing big lines of who I am !

let's talk about this reji model kit !
First, I couldn't applause the really good job on the interior and in making incrdible details.
congratulations Sasa !
I would say too, that I had the chance to be on first road testing from Skoda with the fabia, I have around 40 photos from this day.

reason of my post here is that I have some different conclusions about details, according to my photos and videos from deutschland rally 2003...
please let me give major ones to you here:
- Denis Giraudet doesn't have this seat model.
- you have inverted red and green on stearing wheel gears system.
- you forget part of the roll cage at rear part of the car, those joining side part and rear cross, and two small other ones on each side in the trunk.
I saw it on my personnal pics.

but you did a incredible detailing job !
what was your inspiration? photos or videos from the car? what part of personnal inspiration did you use if you did?

I would precise too, for other modelers having planed to build the kit, that Gardemeister hadn't the gear system on stearing wheel in Deutschland 2003, and dashboard changed after Finnish stage !
then building 2004 version need some important modifications, please pay attention to it if you are building it.

I will take a look at how to host pictures of my processing and my collection soon.

thanks for having read me
friendly yours
Phil

Welcome to AF Phil, I am sure you will enjoy it here. Your English is good, I can understand what you are saying very well.

I think you should start a New Thread for the build you are doing of this Skoda.

Looks like you are off to a great start!!

Re: Finished: Auriol's Fabia WRC (Reji, resin)

Hi Phil, welcome to the forum. Great to see that someone is makeing this kit to .
As for your questions the answers are simple, I had a lot of photos of the car from the outside but very few interior pictures. Since the car changed from race to race I didn't have good info how did Didier car looked like on rally Deutchland. Roll cage gave me such a hard time that I didn't want to bother with adding those beams at the rear (allthou I knew they should be there) and I saw few versions of steering wheels (fron red back green and vice versa), but I decided for this one because I have the clear picture of details from this kind of steering wheel. Good to see that you have painted all three colours on your car (I planed that but got disturbed with painting problems) and ended up using red decals. Since you allready painted the car I shuold warn you about few things. Vacus does not fit well, inside triming on front windshield will be nececary, I have cutted the side windows compleatly because they are to big to fit the hole. Rear wing need triming on inside because it doesn't have dent to receive rear windshield. Front grill does not fit the hole on the resin mask. Front mesh is slightly smaller then the hole in the bumper but notice that it is supposed to be fixed on that air intake partthat gous from bumper to those two openings on the hood (so don't trim that part to much because you will not be able to fix the mesh. Since you are expirienced I don't think you will have much problems but if you get stuck let me know. I will folow your progress.

Hello,

thanks Technoman for your welcoming words.
I will try to keep my English as clear as possible !

yes I will open a new thread for my WIP, I just wanted to put some photos here not to let someone thinking I was a joker trying to put troubles in Sasa's mind !

Sasa, thanks for you words, I didn't want to try to say your model wasn't good enough or something like that, I just wanted to clear why we could have seen some difference and what informations and pics were the most reliable.
I use to have most of rally pics concerning the model I build, but that's not always the case and for the Fabia I have more testing pics than rallye pics for interior details.

well, thanks for you kindness and your informations, I have already explore some of it by trying to put parts together...
this kit is good made but not perfect.

I have a few days working-off then I will start today to create a new thread on my fabia and my brother's one, cos' sunday I will be on a rally to see one of our pilots in his first race from the season, with new codriver.

I will build the Gardemeister version from Germany 2003, without gearbox system on stearing wheel (such a shame...), but that's the one from which I took the best photos!

thanks all !

Philippe
