And you can use the money you save in fines and insurance to finance it.

Time to look at worst case scenerio in the best way:

I pay $1,000 to a lawyer who does not help at all, I pay my $800 in fines, and lose my license for a year, with no permit to drive to work or school, I use my tax money to pay the lawyer, and work off the $800 that my dad will let me borrow, durring this year, my mom gives me a ride to work, and my hoards of friends with hookt up cars in our club give me rides to do fun stuff with them like old times, my car sits in the garrage, and I modify it with the extra money im not paying for insurance because I cancelled it because I CANT DRIVE anymore, I take my year one day at a time and learn to cope, I can't get into college because I cant get there, I turn 19 and my medical insurance is dropped, I pay $10 a week to blue cross blue shield at my work for medical insurance, I have to get a ride and can't reprisent our club at Anime Weekend Atlanta 8, I miss 12 of my anime club meetings and everyone forgets about me (as if they ever really knew me) I can't get a girlfriend because I couldn't really take her anywhere, so what? I'm lonely for another year, whats a year compared to 18 right? the year is over, I get in my G and forgot how to drive a 5 speed, oh well I re-learn it in 5 minutes and im happy once again, my insurance can only be liability now, because no way in hell I can afford full coverage again with 3 tickets, I'm 19 now, the liability is around $211 with the tickets (yes i've researched). I just hope it isnt that bad...
thanx for the support everyone

Well put.

I've been saying for a long time, what good is having a cool car if you do stupid things and lose your license?

Walking ain't cool.

Thanks for taking the time to remind some folks so they can learn from your experience.

Man you are not kidding. I was reading the story thinking that is sounded all too familiar.

DJ Hotpokit: I guess that explains why you never showed up at my house on Saturday for the meet. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

Cobb County Crooks are the most crooked set of induhviduals I have ever seen, I have proof they are corrupt all the way to Chief Lee New himself and beyond. In this case, you cannot count on the justice system to help you out. You need the services of a good lowlife, sleezy lawyer.

Get a lawyer, and get as much evidence as possible. Your best hope is that the arresting officer does not show up in court (this is what got me off). Wait a few days and call up and continue the court date. Wait until a few days before court and continue it again (use a sob story). Then you finally go and do the "guilt/not guilty" thing. When you get your real court date, get it continued, keep going, your grandma died, is sick, whatever. Put it off as long as possible.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes.

dj-hope all works out for you. if you get a decent lawyer you should be fine, or at least as fine as you can be.

here's my story (happened about 2 weeks ago):
i'm on my way to the rodeo (yeeeehaaaa!) going on the local interstate (I-25) around the downtown denver area. i'm in one of those moods so i'm hauling ass and in and out of traffic. 70,80,90 mph. i realize i should take it easy so i begin to slow down. of course, i see a car coming up behind me and i'm like "fuck" b/c i know it's a cop. his lights go on and i look down and i'm doing 70. i immediately pull over on the right shoulder, turn off the radio, turn on the interior lights and put my window down. he comes up and growls "licence, registration, insurance" i get him my stuff and he informes me that he clocked me at 83 and saw my swerving. he also states that he could give me a ticket for wreckless driving and could really screw me. he leaves and all i can think about is how my dad is going to kick my ass. he comes back, gives me my stuff, points at me and says "you better cut that bull shit out" and leaves. no ticket. he did give me a bad stain in my pants however
i don't know what was worse: the feeling i had when i got pulled over, or the lasting questions i have ("why didn't he give me a ticket", "why me", "i should've gotten a ticket", "why...").

bottom line:
i learned my lesson, but it's beginning to fade. i have to keep myself in check and i try hard not to speed excessively.

man that shit really fucking sucks..i never imagined shit like that would actually happen around here..i guess i didn't expect atl cops to be such dicks but all cops are aren't they? i've had to deal with the athens police once cuz i was doing 90 on 316 on my way back to school and i got really fucking lucky that he didn't give me a ticket..ur story has definitely made me think twice about speeding..i mean i've done some crazy shit like 125mph on 85 against this fucking TL type S that wouldn't leave me alone ..but this shit is coming to a stop..i really hope things work out for u man..a similar thing happened to a friend of mine that lives in so cal..his car was impounded for a month and he had a pretty large fine..but the lawyer helped out a lot so i think things will turn out for the best for u...good luck man

my alternative to driving spirited...

a good stereo.

i threw in 2 pairs of 6.5s in my G today and when I drove around, I didn't feel the want to speed... I just wanted to kick back and relax and enjoy the tunes (it helps to listen to Enya as opposed to something with a little more beat like Rage Against The Machine)

*sigh*

it's a nice feeling to know that i didn't speed today and that I was a good law abiding citizen...

but...

that feeling will be gone on friday when I get a HS header installed...

bwaaaaaahahahhahahahahahhahaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!~~~~~~~~~~~~~

well I talked to another lawyer today, she sounded more promising than the other 2, and she told me to do some things.
1) go do like 40 hours of community service at a fire station or something.
2) Take a deffensive driving course.

She tells me that if I do these things it will show that I am remorsfull in court and maybe the judge will cut me some slack, she says she can help getting some charges dropped or reduced sicne i'm just a first time offender, I'm still hoping it works out the best, I've prepared myself for the worst of the worst but I'd really not have to use my preperations, I got all my friends in the club and other friends and you guys hoping for me so I should be ok I hope.

thanx again everyone
