![]() the only thing I could find: The turbocharged GT /of X-terra/ model, scheduled for release in February 2001, is powered by the newly developed SR20VET engine. This 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is the world’s first turbocharged engine to incorporate a variable valve lift and timing (VVL) system, enabling it to generate 280 PS (206 kW) of power for exhilarating acceleration. In addition, torque output in the low to medium speed ranges has also been increased for improved driveability in urban areas as well. I would like to present the fact that some of the info is completely WRONG!
This is regarding the post that was obviously quoted from some crazy Aussie preaching wrong information. Enough of my ranting, I do have first hand experience regarding the CA18det and filled with information; but in question of one thing. If anybody knows, please help. What rods will it take to fit the ca20 crank into the 1.8det? To my knowledge the sr20vet is simply the s15 engine where Nissan implemented variable valve timing into the sr20det. i know its an old topic but...
its one i have some interest in.
early ca18det motors had no intercooler and a distributor and made about 110kw, later intercooled version with multi coil ignition made 130kw. the later version is a bit better but either with basic breathing mods and fmic/bigger turbo will go really well. the article by lumpy is innaccurate in places. sr20's have a square bore (86 X 86mm) and the ca has a longer stroke than its bore, by 0.5mm (83 X 83.5mm) but both versions i've driven redline at about 7500rpm. they are both good motors but an sr has more potential to make power. the sr20ve/t has variable valve LIFT and timing, hence the honda like revs and power figures. late model sr20det's have variable timing and can be distinguished by the lump on the rocker cover. |

Odds are, you'll need the rods from the CA20. Pretty sure the motors have the same bore. Why stroke the motor, keeps the revs.
