Okay, I know we´ve already discussed that but I have to ask about it again. I got my K&N drop-in filter today and have put it in immediatelly to test it. The result:.....that´s the problem! I´m not sure about it. One time I had the feeling it´s good, the next time I had the feeling that I´ve lost some power. But it was raining all day and I´m still using my crappy stock tires so that could have been a problem, too.
So when I arrived at home I checked all Prelude forums I know of and on PreludeOnline.com there was a Moderator (marcucci??) who was like "K&N filters are crap and stock is a lot better! They also don´t filter that good and blah blah....". So what is you´re opinion about it and does anybody has got any reliable info about that? I mean thousands of people are using them and most of them like it but this Moderator seemed to know what he´s talking about (I think he´s a mechanic). I dunno,...I just want to know if I should change to stock again and if I´ve wasted my money. By the way my car is a y2k Prelude base with a JDM Type-S intake and resonator is still on it (and won´t be removed!). |

K&N filters are great. if they werent, then no one would try to copy their design. even the stock replacement filters have an advantage... they're reusable. they dont let in any more contaminates than a paper filter. they also flow freer than paper... try blowing thru a sheet of paper then a sheet a gauze. big difference. there's also a "rumour" that the oil in the reactivation oil used after cleaning will ruin your air flow sensor... true and false. the oil will cause a Manifold Air Flow sensor to fail due to it's design, but all Hondas use a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, which is impervious to this. |

Okay, now I´m feeling good about it again! Thanx for your help again, drift. And thanx that you wanted to send me the OEM kit but I don´t have got much money left in the moemnt and I like my Lude like it is anyways.
By the way, earlier in this thread I mentioned that my car has got a lot of scratches and stuff like that and the good news are that my insurance will pay for a new paint job. Yea, the holy Autobahn....! But to be honest I haven´t kicked my car to its limit yet. And most Autobahns have got a speed limit since a few years anyways. On the other hands that´s good because all these people with big beamers and Benz seem to think that their cars are "racing tanks" and have a lot of accidents.
