Re: Am I the only one? Go ahead kill yourself...

Wait, wait... let me see if I understand this.

You came into the street racing forum, and started a thread that bashes on street racing. Is that right? I just want to let you know, that if someone throws shit in your face for it, you deserve it and should have expected it.

Now, as Redneck said, you're entitled to your opinion, but you should expect a lot of criticism posting it here in a manner such as this. Yes, we know it's dangerous but you know what? We do it anyways. Are we stupid? Probably, but you know what? That is OUR choice to deal with, and whatever happens is OUR responsibility, not yours. You're not really informing us of anything new by saying "street racing is dangerous" and I'm completely, 100% sure that no one here is going to quit completely because of your message.

Sorry if I sound like a dick, but it's the street racing forum. This would be like me going into the Ferrari forum and saying "Enzo Ferrari was a fag, all his cars suck and are pieces of crap."(note, I do not think this, it's just an example.) Do you see where I'm coming from?

So long as a person avoids participating in areas with many non-participants, is aware of the risks, and mindfully weighs the risks before participating, then they are a responsible street racer

Re: Am I the only one? Go ahead kill yourself...

Since I don't feel like writing up whole new statement for an old, tired discussion, I will just quote myself from another OLD thread. It was in reply to another person that came in with just about the same attitude as you, except he was a bit more tactful about it, and even had a website to preach from.

Two, I don't want to get tempted or goaded into a race, which can happen.

Fact of the matter is, this racing thing will never go away, especially with the current crop of cheaper, faster cars. Instead of chasing racers down, ticketing them, throwing them in jail and whatnot, which costs the taxpayers a lot of money, despite the fines being levied, law-enforcement should build free/cheap tracksites that can stay open when others aren't. I am sure a lot of people will volunteer to help maintain this place, including the cops themselves. I know a few officers that were/are racers themselves. Besides that, people doing community-service as recompense can work at this hypothetical track too.

It will never happen though. Cities and Police Departments are too caught up in the politics of "being tough on crime" to even consider doing something like this. By doing so, they're simply pushing the adrenaline-and-gas soaked car "tuners" towards this "organized" chaos.

Even before cars, people have raced. On foot. On animals. How do you think the quarter-mile race came about? That distance was the most common distance used when straight-line racing a horse.

This impulse to compete will always be in everybody. Some, more so than others. Even you I am sure. But not everybody has your insight or common sense.

I am telling you this because I see that you have a whole website to preach from, and maybe one of these days you can point your preaching to the other side too.

On a side note, street/track racing deaths combined don't even come close to what accidental and deliberate gun deaths have wrought. I doubt if casual gun ownership (which can be akin to casual street-racing as opposed to driving to get somewhere) will be outlawed anytime soon in this country, if the NRA has anything to say about it. I know this argument is kind of petty, but it is something to think about.

Re: Am I the only one? Go ahead kill yourself...

why are you ven trying to make these people stop racing? its not like you can go to a nascar race and say nascar sucks and is stupid, and there all going to leave street racing will always be here.

and it seems like you just barely made a screen name just for posting in here since you only have 7 posts, but maybe im wrong.

I've made my point - its common sense that I cannot control you - nor can I stop you - I am however curious if anyone else here feels the same as I do. There is no such thing as a "responsible" streat racer.

Go to a farm road fine race where you think its safe out there. Or appropriately in the rice fields?

So here is my raceing story, just today some idiot pulls up in a Honda with two big pipes on the back that I could drive my car into. Revs his engine and I about lost it. The car that was in front of me was some ricer that he reved at to but made a turn so I stopped right next to him. So yeah this guy is going around everywhere trying to race people in mid traffic.

Since this happened after I posted this I just about couldn't hold myself together. Even if I wanted race with him I wouldn't be able concentrate.

Its rather entertaining that I could get such a rise out of people that like to do this stupid shit. I coiuld get killed walking my dog, why push it?
Oh, shut up with your self-righteous crap. Instead of sitting here trying to judge people that you don't know, and trying to find a fish in a desert (i.e., I am however curious if anyone else here feels the same as I do), why aren't you trying to do something about it? Why don't you convince your City Council to build a race track? You might get REALLY lucky, and change two or three minds in here. But then what? How many 16-yr-olds got licenses at your local DMV this past week?

Quit playing Don Quixote to the Windmills, and find out how to to make the Windmills obsolete, instead of trying to slay them.

If you don't understand that last analogy, use Google.

My self-righteous crap? I'm not judging anyone. I don't have to judge anyone here because there are idiots like this out there anyway - if not 1 or two who use the forum.

I'm not trying to change someone, If I don't change anyone I'm certainly having fun reading some of the responces.

*sigh* where to begin..

I must admit mid-town racing is extremely foolish, cause god knows I would not want to be caught in a wreck cause some 16 year old just got his first car and his rich parents helped him put every possible upgrade on it.. Also I wouldn't want to see the cow get killed out in the boonies if someone rolled through a pasture (I could have been eating that poor cow at Mc Donalds, instead the ants get too)..

You must realize not all street racers race the same.. I for instance don't race for top speeds, and I don't race 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile.. For me I race to whatever the speed limit is on that specific street and get to that as quick as I can.. See I have been in a highspeed wreck and I wasn't even racing to begin with, so to be honest I am a little uneasy about hitting extreme speeds.. My rush is to be thrown into my seat from the acceleration doing 0-60 in less than 5 seconds (No laws against getting to the speed limit in 2 seconds as long as your not burning tires next to a cop).. In fact there are many many people in my city that do the exact same thing and have cars that could easily hit speeds of 160 and up..

Besides only racing to those short distances is perfect practice for lauching, and increased driving ability at take off (just a quick note for the racers seeing no point in this, I am a master at getting off the line, I've taken a Camaro with my Turcel).. What I do is perfectly legal and it satisfys my needs completely, and in the end its all about getting that desired rush..

We are all not the same, everyone is different, so don't stereotype us as if we are.. Some of us do have consideration for others..

Oh and you are perfectly correct about the cigs..

And that is my
