Re: why would i buy a mustang?

The STi runs a 13.5 stock the cobra runs a 13.2. I believe you all were comparing the GT and the STi which you cant do the STi has a turbo GT has just motor. BTW if you get rid of the trubo the car becomes a 2.5rs runnin 15's point said and done have a good day

There's a lot more to the STI than just the 2.5 turbocharged engine, until you understand that you won't understand the STI.

If there was a car available that had the same drivetrain (DCCD, Limited slip F,R, and center diffs, 6-speed transmission) with the standard 2.5 RS engine, I likely would have saved myself the few thousand dollars and gone with that. Granted, it is nice to drive a car where the right pedal does something, but for a daily driver (which mine is), the 165 HP in the 2.5 RS is plenty ( I had a 99 2.5RS that got traded in on the STi). The driveline upgrades other than the engine are what really got me to go with the STi over the other available options.

Re: why would i buy a mustang?

if you believe all the hype coming from the jap auto makers about subaru by all means buy the pricey toy of course dont tell anyone about any problems you have with it no one will believe you they only want to listen about the problems with ford ,gm
a member of my family works for subaru in after sales and some of the stories i hear from him make it not much better than any other piece of machinery they still have lemons and they still breakdown

Re: why would i buy a mustang?

Whereas no car manufacturer is perfect, I have had far less hassles with either of my Impreza's combined than I did with the Ford Focus I drove for 8 months before I brought the Forester my wife now drives (I had the 98 Impreza all the time I had the Focus).
Prior to the Focus, we had a Saturn (GM product) and that was also a little headache to own.

Point is, out of 5 cars, 3 have been Subaru's, one Saturn and one Ford, the 2 "domestic" brand cars gave a combined total of problems far exceeding those that my 3 Subaru's have in a much longer time span.

Why do you think I like Subaru?
Because they are a lot LESS hassle than the others!

Re: why would i buy a mustang?

an sti is faster than a svt. i have multiple videos of sti's racing cobra's and sti wins everytime. A sti is better than any mustang in everyway.

lol i just went to the track yesterday for the second week of test and tune at famoso raceway. There were a lot of cobras there, all pretty much brand new. My lightly modded WRX was stomping on them all day and i was running mid 13's. When i removed my exhaust to the downpipe and added 110 oct, i was running 13 flat. Funny thing about it is, i made 7 runs in a row on a tranny that probably really doesnt like how much power im putting through it and i havent had anything go wrong yet and ive been racing it for 2 years now. Granted i replaced the flywheel and clutch but other than that, fine. Several of the imports and domestics, with barely anything done, broke. Subaru - 1 All others - 0.
