Re: Need Help In Decidin For New Car

IMO, u should get an sti or evo viii, keep it stock for a bit, go to several racing schools, and then decide if u still want to make it look good. if u spend all of that on a fast car, u will kill urself in a week, i know i would. seriously, racing school is the way to go. maybe go to racing school and THEN choose a car

The best thing to do is to go buy a magazine subscription (you got the bucks) to Sports Compact Car, Tuner Performance Report, or maybe Turbo and see what the real people of this world have for cars. That'll give you the general idea of what to get. Avoid mags like Import Tuner and Super Street-they tend to be a bit ricey. MAgazines are how i learned the massive amounts of geeky car info that i tend to blabber off sometimes.

Oh yeah, like it has been said, avoid the shit in The FAst and the Furious and 2f2f...its very unrealistic and misleading (i still cant get over the "ten grand stand alone fuel management system" or the 10 sec Eclipse gs-t (watch the drag scene-its a fwd launch)

Re: Need Help In Decidin For New Car

If your choices are an STI and an Eclipse, go with the Eclipse. I've heard the STI doesn't even come with an automatic transmission and is WAY to stiff.

Do not listen to the . He knows not of what he speaks.

First and foremost, if you plan on driving any car with less than 4.0L of displacement, learn to drive a manual transmission. It's the only way to get peak efficiency from the engine. Plus a manual offers much better car control. Period.

Second, if you're worried about a stiff ride then buy an effin' Toyota Avalon or Buick Roadmaster. Stiffly sprung is best for cornering. Plain and simple.

Oh yes, and if you want a good magazine to subscribe to get Grassroots Motorsports magazine. It's tops. Tons of informative tech articles, lots of reviews, and plenty of news from the club racing level. Basically, it's geared towards people who're fixated on fast street cars that prize cornering and control.

The STi is the top of the line model of the WRX platform... it's basically a street legal Rally car... of course it doesn't come with a automatic. And it's a race bred car, so yes it has a stiff suspension.

"Doesn't come with an automatic transmission" Stop being a little girl. Manual transmission and a stiff suspension is a GOOD thing.

There's tons of other hi-po cars out there that are manual only and have stiff suspensions. Such as the Z06, EVO8...

Re: Need Help In Decidin For New Car

Get a 3 cylinder geo-metro, make it pimptastic with some glow rods, and slap on 50hp worth of stickers.

I guarentee the ladies will be taken they clothes off as you pull up, and you'll be faster than your average john deere tractor...

P.S. 250lbs worth of stereo equipment and audio visual gadgets will help with traction and thus lead to better track times. (Keep this on the downlow though, as it is a secret of the pros...)

Also if you go with an STI or EVO8 (sploog), make sure to get the F&F high speed reverse gearing package so you can pull on cars up to 100mph in reverse too... You'll thank me later...
