Quick fact.

Did you know turning your computer off then back in actually harder in the hardware then leaving it on with the occasional reboot.

Every time it is off long enough for things to cool down inside your case then turn it back on everything must warm up again, that makes sence, but think about that for a moment. What happens when plastic, fiberglass, steels, etc that are cold and then warmed up rapidly? They expand and contract and twist! And what are all over our motherboards? soldered circuts and diodes!

well my computer has only been up for about 5-10 mins right now cause the damn game i was playing locked up and crashed stupid windows..... usually my box lasts about a week b4 windows leaks memory and it dies..... the other windows boxes in our LAN last about the same amount of time..... the linux box lasts forever..... we generally leave our entire network on(turning off monitors when we arent glued to them)...and the only time we shut anything off is when something causes said box to lock up....
oh and our network is Transformers.... Megatron: Linux Box, Optimus: Laptop, Starscream & Gigatron: Windows work(or should i say gaming) stations yes we are computer geeks

I am currently on a LAN network right now. Our server is running Win2K and has been up 24/7 for the past three months. The rest of the machines are running win98.

win98 does slow down over time and the reboot becomes a necessary evil but win2k Pro Server edition seems to run trouble free, though it is a slower O/S than win98 because of its base architechure. We had NT but some of the logining in and file sharing became nothing but major issues from time to time. Not to mention it is as fast as a skateboard!
