Some progress on both the buggy and the hobby room.
I made my small photo booth: 2 wood boards, an hinge, an aluminium profile at each end to hold the colored cardboard used as background, a structure made of copper pipes and 2 spots (but I think I'll have to add 2 more on the front).


Background in 4 colors: light grey, black, silver and white (white is the back side of the silver one).

I used it to take pics of the buggy as it sits now on it's 4 wheels. Front drive-train painted and drybrushed, bull-bars too, seats painted with oil paints.



On these pics, we can see that there is still not enough light, I should then add more spots or put these lower? What's the best to do?.

I think you have enough light, you just need to work on the position of the lights and maybe soften them a little.

By softening the light, you certainly mean to place some thin white paper in front of the bulb to 'filter' the light. Is there any other method?

Pros often use something like a translucent plastic cup over their strobes to get a 'soft' light. I've used a white pillow case and white cardboard as a reflector to soften shadows and you can bounce the light off of a wall or celing to get a soft light too (my walls are light yellow so it screws up my white balance).
I found an IPMS article on model photography years ago that showed a large soft light overhead and two fill lights in the front.

Back to the buggy.

When placing the body on the chassis, I saw it was way too low and didn't let enough clearance to the rear wheels.



So I decided to raise it a bit by adding a thin strip, in this case 1mm was enough. I removed the small lip inside the body (annoying to place the seats) and cut the shape in styrene.





And once glued and sanded with the Dremel to fit the shape of the body ...



A bit better isn't it?

For now, body clearcoated but still not waxed, bottom of the shell painted flat black (like Gel Coat).





And on the chassis ...




Some details are ready but will be glued only when the body's polished: roll cage made of soldering rod, lights surounded with a small BMF strip, steering wheel, ...

I noticed the windscreen was scratched but also broken, so I'll have to do a new one.
I've ordered some Evergreen U profile and I'm actually waiting it.


Meanwhile, I progressed on the details of the body. I applied 'super chrome' BMF on the thin border around the shell but also on the tank cap and the surounding of the speedometer.
There was no decal for it so I used one from my spare parts and another one for the logo on the front.
A drop of clear simulated the glass.



I also started the beach diorama with a sheet of styrofoam cut to the desired shape. The raised area on the side will get 2 palm trees I 'll create on basis of tutorials found on the web.

Base looks great. I've never tried evergreen channel, i always reach for brass when i need some fine material for scratch bits.

This is sweet. I really like how the cabinet came out. Also the overall wip is coming along nice. I think with the lights, i would filter them or maybe try a different bulb. I know fluorescents work really good because they don't beam in as much. Either way, nice addition to the model room and sweet WIP.

Thanks Luchoteam, I do my best to get a nice diorama

I managed to work an hour yesterday on the diorama.
I covered the styrofoam with Polyfilla 'Wall repair' to get an even surface and made the tire traces, when it's dry I'll glue sand all over it.




I also started the palm trees with the branches/leaves, 20 to do (10/tree)

Latest progress.

Buggy > I made a new windscreen with Evergreen profile and the glass with clear styrene. I gave it a more rounded shape because, in my opinion, it suits better the general shape of the buggy. 2 PE bolts from KFS were glued on each side, where it's attached to the shell, and everything was painted with Humbroll 11 silver.

So, I glued the shell to the body and glued the small lights too, I just have the headlights' border to chrome and some little details to take care and it will be done.

Diorama > I mixed white glue with water and poured sand into it. I applied this mixture on the diorama with an old brush and let it dry. I can now paint it with Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yellow and detail paint it (wash and drybrush). I also progressed on the palm trees but I'll show that later in a future post.
