So when do we all get our invitations to the first AF BBQ? I am just afraid the beer won't be enough (or it is a really big cutting mat ).

Dennis, I wouldn't laugh just yet if I were you .... YOU have to turn the Steinkrugs j/k

PS he asked if it was Silesian sausage and I said "almost - it's Cracovian sausage". Cracow is "next door" and have a popular regional sausage.
(I thought it was funny at least hehe)

Thanks Martin.

I know I get a bit too talkative in my WIPs - I promise to make the next one an exercise in brevity!

Steven, you've outdone yourself!

I am, as you surely know, a big fan!

I just hope you keep being as talkative as always, it's always a good thing to get home from a busy day and read up all the crazy shit you've been upto...

Simply, amazing!

take care!

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

Greetings Earthlings!

Some minor work done this weekend (still managing to aviod doing that roll-bar! )

I added some VERY fictional plumbing to the engine bay. TBH I don’t even know what this is but my goal is to just add some “busyness” in there.

Same for the windscreen washer bottle

This is a scratchbuilt master cylinder(?) for the braking system.

Most time was spent on the headlight assembly which actually needs to be ready before I start fitting the roll-bar.
I used salt masking to try and replicate a used and pitted appearance to the Alclad chrome (didn’t work too well in fact) and some light rust spotting with Pactra rust enamel.

I painted the headlight glasses yellow in homage to Jean Paul’s origins although there is nothing in my single reference photo to suggest that they were

Slowly getting there…..could it be time to start another project already?

Thanks for looking in – criticism/suggestions always welcome

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

Great update, I like the front view a lot, all the dirt is so well done!
I just have a question, what are the “HT leads”? at the beginning I though they were the headlight wires, then I thought they were too thick for this application, but then I found the headlight wires which are thin and ok, so what is the use of these “HT Leads”?

And no, please don’t start another project don’t distract from this one, it’s coming out great!

Hi Ramon,

HT = Hight Tension. In other words spark plug wires

The 2CV has the wires come from the cylinders to this "magic box thing" on the headlight bar. The headlight wires and some others also seem to lead (oops! pun ) here.

I made them yellow to add a bit of life to the engine bay but of course they will all be "dirtied" up as well when I have finished the wiring in there.

Don't hold your breath I have big problems with the roll bar. I'm afraid I might have to do it again for some reason

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

I'm really amazed from the first couple of images, the weathering is something. Also the salt mask is something I must try, rust is calling me.
I guess is a bit early to judge wiring job, it would be great with some havy weathering, only those cables seem me a bit too big in diameter, at last you know your refs.

Aaaah ok, thanks, I know them as ignition coil wires, but you’re right, they are high tension.

I also think they are a bit on the thick side for ignition coil wires, for this application, the wire commonly used has a diameter of 11 mm which in 1/24 scale is 0.46 mm, but I’m not sure for the 2CV

Thanks guys. Comments and critique like this are very important and useful - I might not always agree or apply them, but they keep me on my toes!

They might be a bit large but I think it's more the fact that they are still clean and bright yellow that is exaggerating the effect. The wire I used is 0,45mm diam.

Here's a ref of the set up. The HT wires look quite thick but more importantly, you can see all the detail that I HAVEN'T managed to include

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

Hmm...I think I am SERIOUSLY not right in the head
I sat down at the bench for an hour this evening to unwind FULLY intending to paint up the roll cage. Instead this happened out of the blue....

It is supposed to represent welding from when the roll cage was constructed. I think that after painting, washing and dry-brushing it might look OK

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

hmm....
it looks good but maybe a touch out of scale.
Of course, if you did welding joints to scale, there won't be much to see...

It could just be the close up shot making it seem to big.
Got another pic?
