oh no, that last pic was heartbreaking! I'm guessing you'll need to strip the whole body again?

Excellent progress you are making! Superb!
It is unfortunate to see the paint trouble with the final coat, but knowing your skill, I have a feeling that you will be able to manager it just fine. Keep up the good work and hope to see you recovering from this 100%!

Bad luck; I'm sure you will get the result you want in the end and I will look forward to seeing it. Good luck!

Striping last too long and I glued with epoxy front headlights - it would get me even more troubles. As some suggested to repair it - there is no chance to repair without sanding down to primer. The base color layer is dissolved in some places - so I will not get perfect results anyway. |

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
Such a shame to see all your hard work ruined like that,
![]() ![]() I know its off little consolation now but never mix clear coats or paint types, but you know this now to your cost. Stick with 2k and you'll be fine. Good luck with the new shell that you get. gpz900ra7.

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
Thank you for the hints.
However, I was aware that mixing is sometimes risky but I usually succeed in it. It was not the first time I used 1K over 2K but first time with such troubles. Mixing paint types has some advantages - you may easily remove paint excess and save layer underneath i.e paint with enamel over acrylic. I am pretty sure that I rushed too much as I wanted to be on time on the local Modeling Contest. Sanded 2K, too much thinner = disaster. |

Wow... I really do too much kinds of mix, and never get this... The first and only time a get something like this was spraying Tamiya clear spray can over a Zakspeed Mecedes over the nude body only with decals applied...

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
And the stroy begins...
Body is already sanded and almost ready for the primer. I changed order of the assembly - air intakes are glued first as well as head lights will be glued than painted. Will see - I belive that it will look bettter. ![]() Rear wing is ready ![]() Orange putty is Tamiya Light Curing Putty Last edited by Macio4ever; 03-03-2011 at 07:03 PM. |
