Tamiya 1/24 Honda NSX - Completed PICS

I FINISHED ONE!!!

Tamiya 1/24 Honda NSX.
I only just realised that since I started modeling again 18 months ago (after a break of 6 odd years) this is the first model I’ve completed from start to finish. There were a few half finished ones from when I quit all those years ago which I’ve now completed, but this is the first new one from scratch. Anyway…

The learning curve on this one was pretty steep (I seem to always say that…), but I think it came out quite nicely considering. It’s perhaps not showroom quality, but I’m reasonably happy with it – so try not to be too harsh on any slight blemishes that come out in the pics. Ultimately I’m very happy with the build!

Constructive words are always welcome.
You can see the progress thread here.

PRESENTING… the NSX!

The interior is a little hard to see, but the floors have been carpeted, and note the NSX Owners Magazine on the passenger seat. I’ve painted the interior a two tone combination of Satin Black and Nato Black (which is more like a dark grey). For more detailed pics see the progress thread for this build (link above).

Oh, and the pic below shows the picture I created for the magazine inside the car. I printed it onto regular paper, glued that to some cardboard, and then put Contact over it (Contact is a clear, thin type of plastic covering with adhesive on it).

Some more eye-candy…

The engine – I put the odd piece of extra plumbing into the engine, and also scratch built the yellow oil dipstick you can see. It’s slightly out of scale, but it still looks nice enough if you don’t scrutinise it.

Thanks for looking guys!
Cheers,
M

P.S. I got a little creative with some pictures, as you saw with the very first photo on the thread. Here’s a few more for you…

The following shots I was trying to make a scene where the viewer felt like they were in an audience and a new car was being unveiled: low lighting, nice visual effects, all kind of exciting, etc. I had some awesome house music (see www.di.fm) streaming over the net at the time which really added to the effect for me, it was kind of surreal actually. Anyway, I’m sure you get the idea.

To create the effect below, I put the model on a plain black base made of wood, sat it on my laptop keyboard, and played some changing Winamp (www.winamp.com) visualisations on full-screen mode. Got the lighting just how I wanted it (my options were limited here), experimented with positioning a little, and then just snapped off a million pics. The few that follow were some of the best of the lot – and it was a heap of fun!

Damn I like this first one. Next I'll be experimenting with my BAR kit (75% complete) and having some other green and blue lights bouncing off the front, as well as the visualisations in the background. Anyway... get on with it hey...

Thanks again all!
Captain Mark

Nice idea with the pictures. Always feels nice to get one on the shelf. Of all the models I've got, and being a BIG honda fan I've not got this kit..!! Yours came out nice, like how you did the NSX leaflet in the front seats... Dip stick looks good..

I had a 15 year break, so getting one completed after a long break feels good I know as I finished my first model end of January this year after 15 years of building nothing..!! you must be pleased.. Well done..!!

Looks most excellent. I was wondering what happened to this one. I really like your backdrop effect, I think I'm gonna have to steal it some day.

this model looks nice and clean. Where I see attention to detail, I see crisp execution.

So whats next on your table?

Re: Tamiya 1/20 Honda NSX - Completed PICS

Hey guys, thanks for the positive replys.
The paintwork actually has quite a nice gloss on it from the clear coat, but didn't come out so much in the pics. Perhaps if I took them in sunlight/shade it may work better. A task for next time I think.

Blueboost: current projects are both 1/20 Forumla 1 kits:

1. Tamiya Leyton House CG901B - 20% complete
2. Studio27 BAR 006 - 60% complete

I've had to alter the Leyton House a bit, as the moulding is dodgy. So I'm considering putting up a progress thread so I can get pointers from people and show others the alterations I'm making. Plus it'll be my first CF decal and BMF experiment, so I'm pretty excited about that.

Cheers all.

Looks cool but you advertised for a 1/20 NSX.

Yeah, I'm a bit 1/20 crazy at the moment. I couldn't edit it either, so it'll have to stay.
