Talking New to me '93 3000GT SL

Greetings,

Just bought a '93 SL and brought her home today. She is definitly a project car, needing lots of TLC inside and out and has 158,000 miles. The engine is still running strong after an extensive inspection and she has new tires/brakes. Paid $3700.

Our first order of business will be to tune her up. My husband is a pretty good wrench and plans to do this tomorrow. I've had 3 Jaguars (XJ6, XJS and XK8) and he did all the regular maintenance on them. Any tips on special items to look for maintenance wise on this car?

For future use, we are looking for a factory service manual. The cheapest I found on line is $149.99, the dealer wants almost $300. Do any of you have a cheaper source?

I plan to re-do the interior/exterior over the next year and would appreciate insight from those of you who have done this before. Will need new carpet, seats re-done, replace stock rims, new paint, etc. I love the style, handling, exceleration, etc. and hope to have her for a while to come.

FYI, I spent last year customizing my motorcycle and created a page to document the project. http://members.bellatlantic.net/~shellyw/magnainfo.htm
I'd like to do the same thing for this project. Your suggestions are welcome.

Shelly

you should upgrade to the 3rdgen lifters, they don't tick.just upgrade that intake and that exhaust and you'll be tight.oh yea, tune ups on this car sucks.make sure you buy a new plenum gasket and throttle body gasket.
