99 Corolla - Timing belt or chain?

My friend has a 99 corolla VE(I believe it's a VE). He wanted to know if his car has a timing belt or timing chain. He has about 95,000 miles and wanted to know if he needs to have it replaced.
Thanks for any help.

Just confirming..yes, it's a chain -- my '98 has 123,5** miles & I believe it's on the original timing chain..still runs like a dream.
