REally "Genius" Care to prove where anything that me or any other person in favour of the Ferrari have used opinion as fact????? Because all of my posts are either of personal experience- or from the automotive press or industry. Whereas all you've done is say that the ZO6 is better than the 360 because it's "cheap"

Blindly following Ferrari… did you happen to read the post I replied to, which said that for the Ferrari to perform with the Z06 is a testament to its ability? Or are you selective in your reading? And so what if GM has engineers from Italy? Ok, so they may know what a venturi is, why don’t they use one? Are you seriously gonna tell me Chevrolet’s chassis technology is up there with Porsche/Ferrari? Now that’s blind devotion. Oh, and another thing. Call someone – anyone – ignorant one more time, without provocation, and you’re outa here. |

Since you want to skip the jesting and get straight into the facts, and of course since you’re such a knowledgeable researcher of the Z06, tell me, if the new Z06 is being tested extensively at the Nordeschleife, whats its time? If its worth knowing, surely one of the several million motoring enthusiasts around the world would know its lap time, right? Surely it would have been printed somewhere… Or at least Chevy would publicise it if the Le Mans Z06 had lapped with more expensive exotica? And if this special Z06 is being tested at the ring, wouldnt the standard one have been tested there too? why doesnt anyone know the time for that car? Maybe because its nothing special? Just maybe? |

maybe b/c i'm not a corvette buff, i don't really give a shit what it ran.
maybe it hasn't been posted for several reasons, it's lack of "spectacle" being on the list, sure. is that the reason? no. do people in the US give 2 shits about the ring? few people do, so why would chevy bother posting it to anyone. i'm sure you can ask some corvette-o-philes, and you'd find the answer. until then, don't ask me, i just find the information that's lying under everyone's nose.

Handbags, buddy, handbags. If you don't give a sh*t or arent interested in finding out about the cars we're comparing, get the hell out. Either way, hope i havent upset you. Although you have hit the jackpot in this "contribution" to the thread. "do people in the US give 2 shits about the ring?" Well my friend, they dont, and that is precisely the point. What hasnt got across here is that i do actually rate the Z06, but the fact is it falls short of the Modena in certain aspects, just as the Modena does in others. The 360 was developed by the dominant force in the world’s most advanced race series, F1. The mid-engined 360 has spent over 5400 hours in the wind tunnel to optimise every inch of its body. That’s nearly eight months, straight, just to shave a tenth off here, a tenth off there. Its venturi undertray keeps it sucked to the ground without spoiling aerodynamic efficiency. Hence its clear top speed advantage over the equally powered Z06. It’s handling was worked on endlessly by none other than Michael Schumacher, and the result is a no-nonsense, raw, drivers car. It simply wouldnt be any other way. Anyone who’s seen one in action would know. I’m sorry, but no (standard) Corvette will live with this type of creature around a track. From the very start, it wasn’t designed to do what the 360 was. Just as the 360 development placed (very) little emphasis on drag racing. Its as simple as that. The Z06 suits American roads. But at the end of the day, it is based on a C5, and it starts off at a substantial disadvantage that it simply impossible to overcome with a little tuning and uprating here and there. It wont, it cant live with a track-bred car like the 360, or a GT3 around a track. That’s partly why it’s a hundred grand cheaper. In the States, it rules. For the rest of the linearly-challenged world, the Z06 is a very good car but not a great one. It all comes down to what you said "do people in the US give 2 shits about the ring?" No, and it shows in US supercars. Simple logic. If anyone wishes to make a lucid contribution to this thread, PM, and it will be re-opened. Until then, the bickering stops. |
