To swap or not to swap

Hello my friend has a 97 jetta and we just bought a 2001 jetta 1.8t Front end from the dash forward. My question is will this be worth the trouble? And is the wiring that hard? We have everything even the ignition and the key for it, so I was thinking we could use the new ignition and just wire up his gauges and stuff and it should work right? I hope, but he's not sure he wants to because he's afraid it won't work. He doesn't have the money to take it to a shop and have them wire it because we don't know anyone around here thats ever done it and I know it would cost a bunch to have someone figure it out themselves. Do you think we should do it or just sell it? If we sell it how much do these engines go for? Thanks -Nick
O the engine has 51,000 the only thing it needs is drive axles cause they were broke but we do have them for the core charges.

If you got a bigger engine, drop it in. Even if its a bear of a job, you would regret it later on if you don't.
