check wires from the battery to the starter and the ground wire also. Check fuses.
Check your starter. |

Quote:
First Guess: Defective battery or battery cables incapable of transferring heavy current. Second Guess: Defective starter. If the solenoid clicks, it should not be the security system which would disable the power to the solenoid "S" terminal.

Give the starter a few whacks with a hammer while someone holds the key over to start. Old GM trick. If it fires up, you need a starter.

Do you have battery power at the "S" terminal of the starter relay with the key in the crank position?

Re: 1999 lumina ltz wont turn over(battery is fine)
MY 1999 Lumina does the same... drains the batt ( on 2nd new batt) The car alarm got stuck on , so we disconnected IT , pulled fuses ect. but the emerg. lights still bling sporadically... I think THAT may have something to do with it , But once the key is out and its off , it blinks a few min then stops... we noticed today we can move the elec seats while car is off.... Something is draining the battery... is there any hope? thanks for your time Sue

Re: 1999 lumina ltz wont turn over(battery is fine)
We have two different scenarios here....unfortunately, the original poster never responded to our questions....
Should start your own post.....does the vehicle crank over? If it doesn't because the battery is drained, does it crank with a jump? If it does then you have a parasitic draw, and need to find out which circuit is causing the problem.... You say the car alarm goes off...is this factory or an add on? |
