rebuild that transmission!

1998 lumina(base) 169,000.
has been slipping every few days from a stop .
fluid has never been changed.
my friendly honest mechanic has a lumina with about 180,000 and his transmission went totally out.he had it rebuilt and recommended the shop to me.
cost $1750. and that included labor,a motor mount, full rebuild kit and some electric stuff in the tranny that was brittle and cracking.

now the old service engine light is bright again .gotta go to a/z for a code reading.
5 weeks ago when it lite had to change camshaft position sensor . napa has 3 year warranty on it.

a/z code reads = p-0440. evap cannister malfunction.

searched this forum.
1) loose or bad gas cap
2) rusty fuel filler neck
3) hoses or valve going to cannister behind wheel by left fender.
