Re: Rebuilding AWD transmission (real or BS)

2400 is roughly the cost for a full shep rebuild, with all the bells and whistles. So it may not be BS Just depends on your definition of a rebuild, or if the guy you were talking to knew what you meant. If he did, hes full of it. If he was giving the range for a full upgrade, he wasnt lying.

Re: Rebuilding AWD transmission (real or BS)

I would never let anyone else rebuild my tranny (except TRE), and I dont know of anyone else that has. I would just call up a local transmission shop and ask for an estimate, since no one here seems to have done it either.

Re: Rebuilding AWD transmission (real or BS)

Autos are much cheaper to rebuild, but I dont recall seeing that posted anywhere. Autos all you need to do is replace the clutches. The gears and other internals are stronger than the 5spd counterparts.

Ive only tore into one Auto before. I am much more confident with manuals. Plus at work we dont rebuild auto's we just toss in remans.
