Harley Samurai Chopper

Starting a new project before finishing the guzzi..
This time the model kit is the same of the FLH just posted (Academy 1/10 Harley).

What is a Samurai Chopper?
It's a strange bike: is a motorcycle with a strange long wheelbase, the height from the ground by fear and a line as low as a few..

You can see more at http://www.zeroengineeringeu.com/bikes/index.html

So I started wih the frame which I modified making it rigid (without rear ammo)
I scratchbuilt like the 70% of the frame using brass, plasticard and sprue parts.

Then I would have the open primary belt, so I scratched a new clutch (using plasticard, a washer and the hub of a formula1 wheel) and the corrispective pulley (using a tube's cap of cream).

Re: Harley Samurai Chopper

This is a very, very cool bike to make a model of. I can't wait to see what you do!

Thanx

Ciao ketje! that vinil is simply the electrician's tape.. I stacked three layers of tape for the main body, I then stacked three other leaving a sticky surface and cutting off an infinite number of small teeth glued one by one on the body..

A lot of patience is needed especially for the correct distance between them but the work pays off.. As the last thing I cut the tape to the right width (7mm) and I brushed a drop of glue on the sides to make sure that the teeth were not moving on the body..

Re: Harley Samurai Chopper

Very nice work so far...especially on the clutch and primary belt - totally nuts!

For future reference for anyone else trying this, have a look out for old printer/scanners. I've got some rubber belts from them and they look great - not sure they have enough notches for 1/10th scale, but I've kept them for some 1/8th car projects and they are perfect for that.

Will try to get a photo!
