Tamiya LP500s (of a different color)

Here's a kit I bought painted badly in red enamel, partly assembled, and nearly ruined . I'm slowly bringing it back to life. It cost me $3.95, and was first painted in the year 1980! I stripped it and painted it Tamiya Forest Green. I cut out the original headlights and made my own with sheet styrene. Wheels are modified from two different Fujimi kits, and the rear deck vents were cut open.

Body is mostly assembled, and snapped onto chassis for pics. Interior will be white.

Better pics to come! Somehow the taillights don't look right in the pic above.

Thanks for looking Nick

Re: Tamiya LP500s (of a different color)

i like it!

the colour is close to the factory green that came out on the lp400

the wheels oddly work! i don't mind them!

Thanks guys

A lot of people have pointed out to me that the car "should" have orange outer signals under the clear covers in front, but I like the older-style clear ones better with this color combo.

Re: Tamiya LP500s (of a different color)

I think the clear front signals went to swiss cars..? Some countries also had the colors reversed...

I went with the traditional layout for the taillights. This color looks more true-to-life on my work computer, but very washed out on my home computer. This was taken before I got rid of the lower panel with the molded-in mesh, in favor of making my own with real mesh.
