sqeaking sound
my 99 s/w 2 started making a squeaking sound coming from the front right wheel area it goes away when I apply the brakes? is that one of those built in warning features to let you know the brake pads are getting low? the brakes have 86,000 miles on them.

Re: sqeaking sound
That is a possibility but they generally only make the noise when the brakes are applied , not when the brakes aren't applied ? I would suspect a wheel bearing , perhaps a CV joint or something else in the suspension area ?

Re: sqeaking sound
Sounds to me like a brake wear indicator, get them checked before you wipe out a rotor.
