Brand new alpines but sound is horrible. How do I fix it?

I bought A brand new IDA-x001 Alpine head unit and 2 pairs of Alpine sps-600 speakers and the sound quality is not very good. I get barely any bass, if there is any at all and the sound can get pitchy sometimes. I have a 12" type-E woofer that does a pretty good job with bass. But with just the speakers on, it sounds pretty bad. I dont understand it at all. There are pretty decent speakers with 240 watts max. The 15 watt stock speakers had way more bass then these do. WHYYY?

What do you guys suggest?

the stock speaker locations were designed to sound good with the stock speakers. What are you using to power the main speakers ? If you want real bass out of door speakers, you will have to deaden the doors.

The speakers are all powered by the headunit. I tried hooking up the rear deck alpines to an amplifier and that didnt do crap for it except make it louder and the bass was still horrible. Maybe ill try the speakers with the stock deck or another deck and see what happens.

Are you certain the + and - connections to each speaker are correct and verified? The only good reason for terrible bass is either junk speakers (can't believe Alpine's are junk) or one or more speakers are wired out of phase to the others. Can happen quite easily if using the stock wiring.

Well I found out what the problem was. The amplifier in the headunit was bad. I put back in the stock radio and yea it sounded a ton better. So I opened up the alpine headunit and it didnt look to good on the inside. Oh well, back to the stock for a while, and back to the radio : (

If it's that brand new, take it back and get another, might of been defective from day 1.

Haha and not to mention the Alpine headunit only puts out 18 x 4 watts and the stock head unit is 50 x 4 watts. Pretty stupid i think. Im getting a different one. Great features, not great sound quality at all, not worth it.

Those headunits measure in different wattages. The Alpine is 18 watts RMS, the stock headunit is 50 watts max. There isn't a headunit out there that can pull 50x4 RMS.
