Annoying Sqeaking SOUND..OOO PLEASE HELP ME CURE MY HEADACHE
Hey fellas, i have an 02 black/on charcoal aurora 4.0, I bought it jst under a year ago with 58k miles on it. Im very happy with my choice and the performance it has....I jst replaced the intermidiate shaft for $245 total through gm...which is nt that bad to me..But i have this very annoying sqeaking/chirping sound. It sounds like its coming from my rear pass. side. It only happens when i ride over a very bumpy road or if the right side of my car goes over a ditch or a indented sewer. I have no idea what this headache could be, Please help any sugestion would be greatly aprieciated

Re: Annoying Sqeaking SOUND..OOO PLEASE HELP ME CURE MY HEADACHE
I think I know the sound - fairly quiet and almost like an interior panel or seat "chirping" against another, almost all the time and always when the radio is low and the road is slightly but consistantly bumpy. Does it seem to come from the seat-back but you can't find the dawn thing? Have you gone into the trunk and stuffed rags all over after tapping around with a rubber mallet in an attemt to cease this Chinese-water-torture-like noise?
Is that it? On my 97 it was the shock mount that was slightly loose after installing new shocks - I turned the top washer over on the shock post to stop the noise. On yours; have you looked at the stabilizer bushings?

Tjm your on the money..that is exactly what its like. it seems like its coming from the back seat inside somewhere, but cannot find it anywhere. I havent tried the rags yet, but now that you mention it, that sound like a good idea. As far as stabilizer bushings..where do i start ?

Re: Annoying Sqeaking SOUND..OOO PLEASE HELP ME CURE MY HEADACHE
don't bother with the rags - it doesn't work - If you have done the rear shocks lately (or not) look in the trunk at the top of the shock post (remove the big rubber boot cap). there is a nut at the top of the shock rod with a cup washer facing up - I turned the washer down so its tight against the rubber (tight enough to make it hard to get the nut on). that's what stopped the noise for mine.
as far as the stabilizer bushings go - look under the car in the back and you will see a single steel bar that goes from the left side to the right side (about 1" thick) and it is connected to the suspension arms with short links with rubber bushings. the bushings get worn and you can get anything from clunking to squeeking due to the links rubbing or hitting on either the stabilizer or the suspension arm. AutoZone has the poly style upgrade parts and its about ½ hour per side to do - easy, and it makes the handling nice and tight. do the fronts too but get the plastic spacers at the dealer (the front link bolts are known to ROT OUT so you can use the spacers from the dealer and the upgrade poly bushings from AutoZone.
