LSS leaking gas.. need help....

I have a 96' LSS non-supercharged w/ 105k on it. Auto-trans.
I have started to notice small puddles of gas underneath the rear of my car. At first I thought it must be some seal problem at the fuel filter.
I looked up there today and saw it dripping from higher up (near the tank, I guess) and running down the fuel line and dripping off right before the filter. I have changed the filter about 3 thousand miles ago.
Any body have this happen?

From the fuel filter towards the tank are three plastic lines......these three lines, join three metal lines, coming out of the tank(part of the sending unit)......where these plastic lines meet the metal lines, is usually where the leak is......it's either the joint, or in most cases, one of the three metal lines has rusted so bad that fuel is leaking.......

If that line is rusted and leaking, the whole underside should be checked out......from front to rear, all fuel lines AND all brake lines.....even the tank should be checked(especially at the seams).....

If the lines are rusted bad, could have a domino effect here....repair one line, and you might move the fuel line and cause a leak elsewhere.....sometimes the metal lines coming out of the tank are so bad, it's hard to impossible to remove the plastic lines from them.....if the metal lines out of the tank are real bad, the tank has to be dropped, and the sending unit has to be replaced.....this can snowball and get real expensive....

So your saying I should sell it. LOL

No, just preparing you for the worse case scenario....you need to put this on a lift and check everything while it is up in the air....it could even be a simple fix.....

isn't rusting more of a northern USA prob then here, down south?

Yes it is....the salt we put on the road wrecks havoc with cars by the time they are 8-10 years old....fuel and brake lines, gas tanks, cradle bolts, suspension parts, etc.

So being a southern car, may be an easy fix....

Checked it out. Appears to be leaking at the flex line connection at the metal line. I guess I have to just buy another flex line and replace it?????

You won't know until you get the line off.......if the steel line is ok(clean it off real good), then the seal in the line is bad......don't think they sell just the seal, need whole line....

Changed the retaining clips at each end of the hose and it seemed to make it worse. LOL
I was afraid i'd be driving and see a trail of fire following me in the review.
Finally went to dealership and got a new hose. ($66+tax)
No more leak
