Help with metal transfers/stickers

Hello all, I am about to finish this kit, but I am having a hard time trying to get those metal transfers to stick to the body.

I thought they had glue in the backing paper but it seems not. I searched the faq and the web but I must be not searching properly because couldn´t find any tips on how to deal with them.

I am trying the emblem in the back with glue for clear parts but man...thats hard work...maybe it´s just hard...help me!

2 flavors of wheels

cheers!

Re: Help with metal transfers/stickers

I think the adhesive on the backside of the emblems tends to break down over time; making them nearly impossible to stick in place, and even worse, the adhesive on the clear carrier makes that problem even worse. If that's an old/original kit and not a recent reissue, you may have to carefully treat each letter separately like photoetch, and place carefully using your own adhesive of choice. I've had the same issue w/some Crazy Modeler emblems that worked fine when new, but left them out of the jacket for too long. It's annoying, to say the least.

I hope you're not using the wheels in that second photo....they're awful!

Yeah, that´s absolutely right. It´s an old old kit, some 15 years old I would say. The clear carrier adhesive is still pretty good, Tamiya should´ve move those around lol.

I already lost the S600, managed the back emblem but I am about to call it finished. Maybe it´s from a discreet owner that doesn´t want to show of its V12.

Well BVC, you actually save this build with the clear parts. And I didn´t forget your set of wheels from the first photo.

Ah, I totally forgot! Looking nice, can't wait to see more photos. You can get Mercedes metal transfer emblems from Hobby Design. Includes S600 and V12 badges.
