metal transfars

anyone ever use metal transfars?

if so how easy are they to work with, my next kit the impreza has a few in it

They are basically peel and stick etched scripts, easy to use but fragile. The main thing is to not bend them, once you do that, it's almost impossible to straighten. Also make sure you place it exactly where you want it before you press it on.

I also have question about metal transfers, How long do u wait to put them on after u paint the car?

ALWAYS wait until the paint is cured before doing anything on it or to it.
1 week for most lacquers sounds good to me.

Well, you want the paint to be dry, and you want to have any polishing you are going to do finished. Don't use any wax til after you stick them on because it might interfere with the adhesion.

DJMR2 is right if you don't wait for your paint to cure fully before applying clear coats/waxes then there is a great chance that as the base coat dries it can mess up the paint job as it gives off tiny air bubbles!!

Where does every one get these spinning cars pics that are in sig' panels? Like the civic TURBO_EK4 has in his?

I find that even if I wax after applying the metal transfer, the wax still seeps into the adhesive and makes if fall off after some time. Now I prefer to use superglue to attach these transfers. A needle makes application of superglue easier.

really old thread, but i have a question that goes along w/ this:

do i apply clear coats before or after applying a metal transfer? i'm using tamiya clear coat, if that makes a difference.
