I do have to wonder though why GM dropped the brighter blue in favor of this very muted gray/blue.

Agreed. For some reasone I am having trouble with this on my current build. Must be the evergreen. Anyway, I also think the finish is well done. Just not feeling the color. It's like looking into deep space
