Question 2003 Olds Silhouette XM

Ok, I am am going to try to make this as simple as possible (Hopefully!). I tried getting help on an XM forum, but I think I had too much info in the post and they were confused!

I have researched high and low, and from what I have found is that even though my vehicle did not ship with XM, the radio is "XM Ready", meaning it could be added. The radio features a Band button and has RDS printed on the LCD display. I have an aftermarket module that utilizes the XM option and turns it into 2 aux audio inputs. One is for my iPhone and the other for either analog audio in, or I can get a Sirrus module that will be played and controlled through the radio.

My Problem is this. Even though it is "XM Ready", when I cycle through the Band button, I get FM1, FM2, AM, FM1, etc... XM should appear after AM, but it never comes up. From my understanding, since XM did not come pre-installed from the factory, XM is disabled by default in the radio. This is apparently why it never shows XM when I cycle through the Band options. What do I need to do to get XM enabled so it shows up on the LCD display? Does it require just a normal Tech 2? A Tech 2 with special programming? Some other specialized GM computer and programming setup? Or is there a way I can enable it myself?

Thanks for reading and any help you can provide!

Re: 2003 Olds Silhouette XM

post # 7 i posted a link to my xm install. i do'nt think your radio has a aux imput on the front of the radio. my xm has the fm modulator so the van radio recieves xm on the fm preset. the next gen xm went with a sure connect wire that connected to the antana in order to reduce the amount of interferance in high population areas. here's a link to comp nine http://www.compnine.com/vid.php where you enter your vin# it then list your rpo codes and this should help clear up the sat ready radio question. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...light=xm+radio
