Ferrari 599-XX Hobby Design, my way!!!
Here is my "attempt" at building the Hobby Design transkit of the Ferrari 599XX, as you can see I did not follow the directions of the manufacturer.
First of all, is my personal belief that I got a modified reissue of the original H.D. offering of the transkit, my parts where free of warpping, airbubbles, deformation or overall damage, The engine hood and it's side panels where separate pieces(in a friends of mine, is a single piece part), the wheels included are the latest offering of this type by Hobby Design, they included the tiny airvalves but the wheels are extreamly fragile and thin in the spokes...a lot of care have to be taken to avoid breaking the fine spokes, the small and interior pieces where very clean a sharp in definition, but one of the side rollcage assembly seem to be from the early offering, the color as well as size where a couple mm smaller....BUT....as stated before by other modelers that built this kit, the pieces come short in the final assembly in the plastic body, plastic filler pieces have to be made. I don't know if because my choice of using the Revell Ferrari 599, the fit of the side skirts where the worst, had to cut them and fill the extension gap with putty. Since I wanted an engine I did not cut the front area, just transplanted the top side vents, cut the transkit front airdam and glue it to the kit front after cutting away the plastic one. Cut the trunk spoiler fron the resin trunk unit and fitted to the plastic kit...after filling away the palstic one molded in the kit. The side "wings" where cut from the resin pieces(which where to short and thin) in the transkit and glued to the plastic pieces of the kit, the small curved "ridge" was done with a motor-tool. Now I have to finish all the putty blending and fitting of the pieces, but I am happy so far with the result, it was not an easy approach...but after all...is not an easy transkit to work with in the first place!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Ferrari 599-XX Hobby Design, my way!!!
I am pretty sure the APM kit will be a stunner and a LOT easier and fun to build unlike this transkit, I also would love to buy the 1/12 scale resin kit of the 599XX but is beyond my budget at this time. I just hope that one of the plastic kit manufacturers do the new Ferrari GTO in 1/24....that duo will be a spectacular display side by side!!!

Re: Ferrari 599-XX Hobby Design, my way!!!
I local friend of mine have the original first issue of the Hobby Design 599XX transkit, he was REALY MAD when he saw my "refit?" version of the same kit/brand....the wheels and quality of casting in particular is much better in mine than his early version transkit. He just cut/choped and used the parts in diferent non Ferrari model car projects!!!!!!!!!!
