1/24 Fujimi Ferrari 599 GTO with Hobby Design Detail Set
I always wanted to build Ferrari 599 someday.
"Unfortunately(?)", there are just too many good builds crafted by other members here and this has seriously discouraged my motivation to actually build one. ![]() ![]() Then something happened! This is what I ended up getting and it got me ticking again. The detail set seems fun and I just want to build something looking aggressive and different! I am planning to use the Finisher's Deep Red which I find very nice to work with and can't think of any other colors to paint this Ferrari. Truthfully, although I thought about going with Black or Silver multiple times, I will play conservative and paint it red. To prevent the car from looking quite the normal "red Ferrari, I might darken the wheels to give some aggressive appearance. ![]() This is the look I am thinking of. I didn't do a good job with the panel lines on this one, but I will try to do my best to make 599GTO red, dark, and sit low! Before I start the build, I thought I should do a proper review for this detail set first. I know many of you are wondering the content, so I will play nice and share it with you guys! ![]() ![]() Now let's start the review first. The detail set comes with one sexy 599GTO body, looks like it is a modified Fujimi base. The panel lines are crisp. This is a good sign for any resin kits. As you can see, the hood has been reshaped with extra vents. Modified side rocker areas and the integrated rear spoiler section look all okay to me. ![]() The rear spoiler section was raised a bit and I can see the rear bumper has reshaped to give aggressive look. ![]() ![]() ![]() Overall, the resin surface looks clean. I expect some clean up effort needed on some areas, but this is nothing out of ordinary for resin kits. I did notice that window edge area has been modified to take vacuum form window films and this is where I have hard time understanding why. ![]() The detail kit does include vacuum form windows. I am puzzled though, I think Fujimi clear parts look fine to me. I will see which parts I would use later on. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is probably the best part besides the body. The wheels are simply gorgeous. I might remove the lug nuts and add my own, but this is certainly very impressive. The tires look good too. The patterns are clean and edges are sharp. I didn't expect them to be this good, but they are. ![]() ![]() ![]() Of course, lots P/E parts! I am sure I will probably ended using 60~70% of the P/E parts supplied here. This is quite the typical nowadays, I don't remember when I used 100% of the P/E detail parts. I just find some of them being effect and some of them are not being effective. ![]() ![]() Good textured seats are also included and I will do my best to make them cool. ![]() ![]() The diffuser looks very nice. Covering it with carbon fiber will be challenging though. The fins are thin enough, but thicker then the normal P/E fret thickness. I like it this way, the volume can be seen, but still thin enough to stay sharp and in scale. I am glad Hobby Design did not design the fins with P/E parts. ![]() Nothing special here, but the front lip to make the car look more aggressive. ![]() The caliper parts look very good, I can probably even add brake pad detail to this. ![]() And lastly, an instruction for me to study. ![]() Overall, this detail kit definitely will improve the look of the car. I can already see some fun building activities which I will face with the set. Will update the build progress soon.

It's supposed to be a transkit for the Fujimi kit. I wish Hobby Design had made a complete transkit body for the 599XX like they did for this one, but it looks like their products are improving a bit since then.

Coming from you I am sure this will be an amazing model. I hope you bring it next month. By the way, I would love it if you brought the C6R again to display.

Re: 1/24 Fujimi Ferrari 599 GTO with Hobby Design Detail Set
I'll definitely be watching, thanks for showing off what comes in the box, but I doubt I'll be buying this $150 transkit...I want to build multiples, hoping that Revell, not Fujimi, does the kit...more value, more detail.
Ferrari still has the GTO on their website, you can configure your GTO before you build it. So many color and stripe options, so many interior options...
