Hobby Design 599 GTO

Got this from their website. Not large enough for quality check. No info but I'm assuming for Fujimi kit.

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

I don't know whether to purchase it for $150 or wait a little longer to see if Fujimi releases one, which will be 1/3 the price of the HD transkit.

Tell me about it. That sure is pricey but looks better than their 599XX effort. But, I also want to do engine detail, so I’m likely to wait a bit or see if Fujimi or Revell (less likely) will pop one.

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

Yeah, I do think it looks better than their 599XX effort. A full body, rather than parts to be attached to a chopped kit body, leaves less room for error and part shrinkage. Hopefully.

Inlikely Fujimi would release one with engine detail since there regular 599 is curbside.

I know, I was going to combine a Revell 599 with it. The biggest change is crafting a new airbox.

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

I really hope Revell does the GTO. I'm currently working on the Revell 458, it is so much better than the Fujimi kit it's not even funny. Fit/quality are astoundingly good...especially compared w/earlier Revell AG Ferrari kits (my last one was a 612, a real handful of a kit). Even though the Revell kit is full detail vs. Fujimi's extremely simplified kit, assembly is more fun and more precise.

My biggest concern w/the HD kit is the fact their previous resin parts seemed undersized. I'd surely hate to see someone pay $150 for a 1/26th scale body.

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

my online search hasn't brought up any kits for 599 GTO or 599XX other then these trans kits....

in this GTO kit are these injection molded parts? (hard to tell from picture)....they look like clean moldings though

also, does anyone make a full 599XX kit (not just trans kit)?
this is all i found http://www.hlj.com/product/HYDHD03-0027
thx

It is resin. And no, there are no full kits in styrene plastic. Only transkits to date on the 599XX and the recent 599 GTO

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

I doubt fujimi will do the GTO since they didn't make any variations of the fiorano, if they're interested enough the 599XX should be their first attempt. Let's put a little hope on revell then. I personally don't recommend this HD kit to anyone unless you're desperate for a 1/24 GTO. Seeing from the pic you can see there're no interior parts except the seats directly casted from the fujimi scuderia kit. And you'll really struggle to put the rear diffuser(which is wrong) on. I've requested to test the early mule of this kit, and i won't claim that a happy experience. You got all assembly issues just like any other HD kits. Not worth the $$ IMHO.

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

Thanks for the heads up! Wish HD quality was better, b/c I like their offerings.

Re: Hobby Design 599 GTO

yes, it's odd one manufacturer hasn't plans to make a 599XX full kit
if someone has some sway, put in a word with revell
