Re: Timing Chain, or Spark plug or bad gas reason for no start?

I have a chance at getting a 3.4 motor out of a Oldsmobile Silhoutte mini van, not sure how you spell it, my brother might be buying it for scrape parts for his mini van, he asked me if I would like to have the motor if it would work, my Cavalier has a 3.1 motor in it, now, he was curious as to if this transition is possible at all, for my Cavalier? Would there be any modifications that id need to make for it work? Thanks, I rather would replace the motor if i had the chance to get a good deal on a motor rather than pull everything out of the 3.1 and try to fix it. Thanks again guys!

Re: Timing Chain, or Spark plug or bad gas reason for no start?

Okay I'm back here guys, I ended up not selling it, I took it over to my Uncle's yesterday and we tore her down. The heads were toast, both sides, one side has ALL the valves open and bent along with the other side having majority open and bent also with two that broke off which explained the damaged spark plug. My pistons have a few scuff marks on them. I am going to look into a rebuild, i think the only thing that really would be expensive for me would be the headers and pistons. I was told that i should get new pistons while im at it, those are around $220 at Autozone for all 6. The headers were $220 EACH and thats what is gonna kill me lol. My brother was going to pull the heads off my other brothers Lumina, but never got around to it and the car got crushed. I am having a hard time finding anyone around my area parting out their Z24s, i found quite a bit of people with Luminas, does anyone know what other GM brand cars heads would fit my 92 Cavalier Z24? And what year??
