2002 PA Air Shocks

I replaced one of the air shocks last year and this really improved the ride. Lately, the compressor has been running more frequently. Today, I checked the opposite air shock and it does not seem to be leaking. I checked the one I replaced last year and it seems fine. I noticed that after I shut the car off, the compressor made a whining noise for about 30 to 45 seconds. Could the compressor be going bad?

Re: 2002 PA Air Shocks

Whining noise may be air escaping through the compressor valving system- Dose t sound like air escaping, like when you pinch off a balloon? This could be a bad seal- spray some soapy water all around compressor and then shut car off and see if you see the leak.

That's what it sounds like. I'll take the plate off to get to it in a couple of days. It is running for a long time. Thanks

Re: 2002 PA Air Shocks

I accessed the compressor through the right rear wheel well. Soaped everything down, but did not find any leaks. I also rechecked the air shocks with soap suds. Kind of odd. It takes it awhile to pressurize and I noticed yesterday the compressor was again running when I arrived home. The valve did not appear to be leaking. It is suppposed to be warmer this weekend. I may take another look at it. Maybe the compressor is getting weak.
