Re: exhaust manifold getting to hot melting tps

How many miles + when was the last tune up?
Could it be a plugged catalytic converter?

You can do a smoke test to check EGR system, PCV system, and air intake system, see

Re: exhaust manifold getting to hot melting tps

I read about the smoke test:...wondered about the saran wrap first....then understood! next time I want photos! SHarp! ...I thinking about a substitute for the cigar.....

Tony, is exhaust escaping from EGR return tube ?....that is a 3.8, isn't it...

If you don't smoke!

Plugged the air filter with glad wrap, and drop your favorate color smoke bomb down the air duct work befor hooking air box up.

You can manually open + close the throttle plate by hand to control smoke.

Re: exhaust manifold getting to hot melting tps

You will have to have a Scan Tool to check codes on your APV

It is common of the Tuned Port 91-95 3800 and the L67 SC 91.5 to 95 to crack the tubular manifolds... Glad you found that...
