Bad 01 cruiser engine. Will 98 stratus 2.4 fit?

I have an 01 pt cruiser with a bad 2.4 dohc head and block. Can I swap it with a 98 stratus 2.4 dohc engine by using all of the parts off of the pt cruiser engine? I know i will have to use the oil pan, mounts, manifolds, and such from the pt(if they will bolt up). Does anyone know if this will work before I buy the stratus engine? Is it the same block and head for the most part?

www.car-part.com this is a method I use to check interchangeability. I know they won't list the entire engine as compatable. Hollander exchange manuals are specific as an EXACT fit. one sensor that doesn't fit will void their interchangeablilty. However I break down the parts to check for fit. so do a search for a head if they come back the same then you'll know the manifolds will fit. search the block, if it comes back as a valid interchange, you'll know this will work.

Thanks for the reply. Great Link! I could not determine from it if the engine or head would work. I know the casting numbers are the same on the heads, I read on another web site that the oil passages inside the engine are a bit differant, but if I used the entire engine it wouldnt really matter. the block looks very similar as well, but its one of those deals where I look at mine, and drive to the salvage yard 70 miles away and try to remember if they are the same. I was hopeing someone had done the swap, or knows 2.4s well enough to know if it would work, or if they are totally differant engines. I also have a low low milage 2.0 from a 2001 neon available. Would that work without changing any internal engine parts(cams, ect..)? Id like to use the harness from the cruiser with as many parts from the cruiser as I can.
