2005 Z-71 Suburban, intermittent heat/cooling driver side
We are having problems with my wifes 2005 Suburban.
In the summer time the AC will blow cold then go hot. If the truck is shut off and turned back on it will blow cold again. Maybe for 2 mins, maybe for 4 hours. In the winter time it does the same with the heat. Driver side is the only side we have an issue with. Any help is appreciated. We are in the same boat as everyone else with money being tight. But, its getting cold here in Indiana and will have to go to a dealer if we cant figure it out with help from you guys. |

Re: 2005 Z-71 Suburban, intermittent heat/cooling driver side
Having the same problem with my 2005 Suburban LT. I replaced one of the air actuators today with a Dorman part number 604-106. I read somewhere online that was the one that would fix this. Turns out the one I replaced only the actuator that diverts the air from the floor to vents to the defrosters. That was fine on my vehicle, so waste of time and $100 today.
We need to find and replace the actuator that diverts air between the driver and passenger vent. I'll keep searching the net. |

the air temp is powered by the temp motor . this is at the hump area inside the air box. this is a common failure or the door is getting stuck by debris. this is a step motor that operates on 5 volts dc. locate this part, remove , and make sure the door is free to move. hot coolant is always flowing thru this air box heater core. |

Re: 2005 Z-71 Suburban, intermittent heat/cooling driver side
2004 Silverado 2500 HD LS with dual climate manual controls.
Hot air on driver side while ac on passenger. GM Service manual: Re-calibrate the AC computer Try a reset. Set AC controls to cold, Fan off. Under the hood, pull fuse HVAC/ERAC for minimum 10 Seconds. Reinstall. Start engine and do not touch any controls for 40 seconds while the computer calibrate the AC. Then use your AC normally. IF the problem continue, replace the drivers side temp actuator GM part # 89018365. You can find them on ebay by searching the GM partnumber. This is over 50% cheaper than the dealer. To replace the actuator: Take off the duct shroud ( 4 screws ) and the actuator is right above the hump in the floor, only 2 screws & pull down. You can feel the spindel or shaft that connets to to flapper that lets in the heated air, open and close manually with your finger tips an you can hear it open & close. Line that shaft to the opening in the actuator and reinstall the 2 screws. |
