Re: Jordan 191

Insanity
(in the good way, of course! )

I just cannot begin to imagine how you make and put these tiiiiiiny parts and wires together so cleanly, that in macro photography it still seems like you are looking at a 1/1 engine.

Is it magic....? You are posting the day following Halloween after all...

Re: Jordan 191

I was wondering when you would be making your next update. And it was well worth the wait. Just a super job and execution. Looking forward to your completion of this outstanding build.

Re: Jordan 191

Beautiful work, crazy detail, knowing the detail is there even if you can't see it all is a an obsession I sympathise with. Wonderfully mad!

Keep at it.
Lee.

Re: Jordan 191

Damn dude.......I am so amazed at your abilities. Not just that, but the fact that you started at a super high level, and have maintained it for this long. No way I could stay interested or keep up that kind of pace for so long on one car. Unreal.

The intake and air filter and trumpets look fantastic. As does all the wiring. Just beautiful, flawless work.

Re: Jordan 191

This is insane. Some parts are so small that I don't think I can even hand-hold them with my fat fingers, let alone CFing them.

I have been rejuvenated! I have to rethink my strategy on how to approach my latest build. Excellent work. You should be proud of yourself.

Re: Jordan 191

Thanks a lot guys!

Nick, i'm glad this build inspired you and made you come to the forum! That's what i hope to achieve, because when i got into this, others and their WIP threads did the same for me :-)

So here we go again, and this time the break wasn’t even that long :-)
I had a bit of a wiring and plumbing session for this update. I started on the left engine bank and installed the fuel line that runs from the fuel pump below the left exhaust ( hidden by the heat shield ) to the ignition system on top of the engine. I used 0,5mm styrene rod and painted it Alclad white aluminium.
Right over it there’s a fat black wire running along the camcover. The big plugs are modified TopStudio items with one of my etched parts. The yellow markings are bits of decal.

Same thing on the right hand side, only there are thin wires with three small plugs :-)

Then I installed the wires and hoses on top of the tank. The fittings are all custom made from aluminium and were airbrushed with clear yellow and blue. For the blue I’m now using Zero Candy Electric Blue which is much better to work with than the Revell enamel paint I used before.

All the ends of the cables and hoses that are not visible are hidden in front of the engine or below the induction tray. On the reference pictures you can’t see where they really end so I didn’t care either :-) I also left some small cables off that you can see in some pictures lurking in the “darker” corners, because I didn’t know where they start and end and just throwing something in there wouldn’t change a thing really.

One cable that you can see well is running along the left side up to the roll bar. That’s the emergency cut off for the engine. The red wire doesn’t look very reassuring on the original car either :-)

With the tank done I went towards the back of the car and installed two black braided hoses.

These were used to dump excess oil from the engine and gearbox on the following cars afaik….common practice but not nice :-)

The end pieces are made from 1mm brass tube and the hoses are held together with thin stripes of black electrical tape ( glued with superglue ).

For the last piece I went back to the front of the Jordan. I added some etched screw heads to the cover over the front damper. I drilled little holes and glued them flush with the surface. The antenna is made from 0,1mm wire and mounted on a base made from an etched washer and a black bit of styrene.

I don’t have any picture of the underside of that lid but there must be some kind of cable and plug to connect the antenna, so I made them up. Only, there’s no plug to connect it to besides the damper. There was simply no room left for one:-)

That’s it for the moment. There are a couple of hoses left to do at the back of the car but then it will be time for the rear wing and cowling… and there are some issues I’ll have to solve with those. That may take some time :-)
Thanks for watching!

Re: Jordan 191

This is unbelievable work jaykay - especially considering the scale - one would think this was 1/12 or larger just based on the detail - qudo's to you jaykay - John

Crazier and crazier

Stunningly clean and fascinating detailing, JayKay. I'm really glad I had the chance to meet you in Frankfurt because now I know you are human after all!
